We are looking for a Manager profile to oversee and drive the local Semicon operations, in our business unit Air Logistics at Schiphol. The main activities involved in this role: process optimization, customer experience & excellence, people management and achieving bottom-line results.

Your Role

Kuehne + Nagel is the market leader in the Netherlands within the field of Air logistics. From 4 locations at Schiphol-Southeast, a team of 500 people work hard 24/7 to import and export an international flow of goods. As part of the Semicon division, you will be involved with the shipping of semiconductors, a popular component of electronic chips made for computing components and a variety of electronic devices. These shipments are handled within our globally certified SemiconChain network by experts trained specifically in semiconductor logistics. You will be managing a team of 10 Semicon Specialists, who will be responsible for our Semicon operational activities and customer care. Your day-to-day activities are to ensure that your team perform all operational duties and requirements in accordance with specific working instructions and Customer SOP’s. Additionally, you have hierarchical and functional responsibility towards your team, and measure their performances aligned with business focused objectives. You will be working closely with different internal stakeholders and facilitate a good working relationship with them, in addition to building and maintaining close collaboration within the wider Kuehne+Nagel network as well with your customers. You will report to the National Air Logistics Semicon Manager. This is a full-time position, 40h with location: Schiphol Airport.

Your Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the day-to-day operational team activities;
  • Coach, mentor and manage the team in line with company policy & behaviors;
  • Apply knowledge of logistics and transportation methods, cost structures, service requirements, modes, tariffs, equipment, infrastructure and people availability in order to build optimal network design and optimize day-to-day business;
  • Support set up and stabilization of new scope of work;
  • Provide efficient clear and timely communication as well excellent management of deviations and damages in transit, and additional costs;
  • Monitor and maintain operating procedures and working instructions;
  • Continuous development of efficient standard processes and ensuring their compliance in coordination with the local Customer Care locations;

Your Skills and Experiences

  • At least 5 years of freight forwarding experience,  in Air Transport and/or Air Logistics;
  • Minimum two years of management experience, preferably in the Transport and/or Logistics sector, ideally with a focus on Air Logistics;
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in English; Dutch is a plus;
  • You are a responsible team player and people manager;
  • Self-motivated & able to work on own initiatives;
  • Demonstrate Leadership with a high level of communication skills, including a customer solutions and a change management mind-set;
  • Time management and conflict resolution skills are critical to the role, meaning you are able to set priorities and to deal with different cultural backgrounds.
