Mission

The successful candidate will be focused on supporting Sustainability Compliance within our Americas region. You will support our Americas Sustainability Compliance team to HP to track, influence and ensure compliance with legislative requirements across the Americas region. You will help ensure our customers can purchase HP products and services because they are safe, legally compliant, responsibly manufactured, and meet or exceed their sustainability expectations.

You will support our team to ensure compliance with sustainability legislation including on WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), batteries, packaging, eco design, waste shipment, materials, supply chain responsibility, ESG and the circular economy. You will also support advocacy and engagement with key stakeholders. This is a Graduate role. By working closely with our team you will develop your sustainability knowledge, your experience of managing Sustainability Compliance and your expertise of key sustainability regulations and themes.

You will be part of our Global Sustainability Compliance Team. You will be based from HP’s Guadalajara office in Mexico. English and Spanish language skills are required with Portuguese desirable.

Key Responsibilities

As part of this role, you will:

  • Support our Sustainability Compliance team to ensure HP product and services are compliant with sustainability regulations and legislationwithin the Americas Region.

  • You will help track, influence and ensure compliance with legislative requirements on WEEE, batteries, packaging, eco design, waste shipment, supply chain responsibility, materials, climate, ESG and the circular economy.

  • You will help the team to maintain roadmaps and dashboards of compliance requirements for the Americas Region.

  • You will develop draft policy analysis and compliance instructions that will be used to keep internal teams aware of the new legislation and convey the key requirements to the relevant implementation teams.

  • You will also support advocacy andattend meetings with industry associations key stakeholders and policy makers. You will help ensure HP is a trusted advisor in the policy making process and help shape constructive policy proposals.

  • You will also support the AMS Compliance Lead including maintaining and improving our compliance processes, reporting, and records management. You may also support compliance improvement projects.

  • You will also support local waste classification and compliance support for our Planet Partner Program cartridge recycling program in the Americas.

  • By working closely with our team you will develop your sustainability knowledge, your experience of managing Sustainability Compliance and your expertise of key sustainability regulations and themes.

  • You will also develop your knowledge of WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment), batteries, packaging, eco design, waste shipment, materials, climate, supply chain responsibility, ESG and the circular economy.

Requirements & essential skills

Required

  • Passion for sustainability and drive to make a positive difference.

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree with a significant sustainability or environmental policy focus (eg Geography, Environmental Policy, Environmental Management, Environmental and Business, Environmental Law or equivalent.)

  • English and Spanish language skills (fluent).

  • This is a Graduate role and so we are looking for a candidate that is no more than a year post graduation.

  • Enthusiasm, ability and willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.

  • Ability to understand sustainability policy and compliance requirements.

  • Strong quality orientation. Rigor and attention to details.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills to keep track of tasks and ensure completion on time

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.

  • Good interpersonal skills to enable support for advocacy.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage fluid situations, then prioritize and take action with calm and efficiency, working at a fast pace in a flexible manner.

  • A curious mind and analytical approach to develop new ideas, proposals, and solutions.

  • Strong team-working skills.

  • Self-starter with the ability to work with minimal direct day-to-day supervision.

Desirable

  • Work experience in a sustainability related role (no more than a year post graduation).

  • Interest or understanding of one or more of the following areas: WEEE, batteries, packaging, eco design policy, waste shipment, materials, ESG and the circular economy.

  • Interest in or understanding of the policy making process.

  • Portuguese language skills (conversational).
