The Candidate

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Audit and Control Manager to drive financial excellence and contribute to Birdman's overall success. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and auditing and a proven track record of leading Finance Transformation initiatives (process, procedures, and controls) as well as conducting financial and fiscal audits in large organizations or as part of a Big 4 accounting firm. The successful candidate has strong analytical skills, is very detail-oriented, and is proficient in Excel and other tools. Knowlege-wise, the Candidate we are looking for has strong knowledge of financial transformation tools as well as fiscal and financial reporting normative (NIF, NIIF, IFRS, USGAAP) and control and assurance methodologies (COSO, SOX).


The Role

As Birdman's Audit and Control Manager, you will play a pivotal role in revolutionizing our financial operations, setting the stage for our transition to a publicly traded entity. Your mission is to cultivate an environment of best practices within the finance function, ensuring Birdman is primed for its Initial Public Offering (IPO).

You will manage the internal and external audit processes, ensure compliance with financial and fiscal regulations, and drive continuous improvement in financial processes and systems. You will be in charge of ensuring that proper controls are implemented and procedures and policies are followed according to best business practices. As Birmdan's Audit Manager, you will review proper accounting records and sign-off financial statements that comply with IFRS guidelines.


Responsibilities

  • Finance Transformation: Define policies, procedures, and controls for the accounting and finance operations to run smoothly and in an environment of control, which will render financial reports generated from operations compliant with IFRS guidelines and regulations.
  • Internal Controls and Policy Enforcement: Ensure the implementation of robust internal controls and the adherence to company policies and procedures. Monitor their effectiveness and make adjustments as needed to maintain best business practices.
  • Audit Management: Oversee both internal and external audit processes, serving as the primary liaison between Birdman and audit firms. Ensure audits are conducted efficiently, addressing any issues promptly.
  • Financial Reporting: Responsible for the accuracy and integrity of accounting records and subsequent Financial Statements. Ensure all financial reporting is in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), providing transparent and compliant financial and compliance insights.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Guarantee adherence to financial and fiscal regulations, safeguarding the company against compliance risks. Stay abreast of regulatory changes and implement necessary adjustments to our practices.
  • Strategic Finance Projects: Participate in strategic Finance Transformation projects, such as the implementation of ERP systems and other tools, due diligence procedures, and audits.
  • Training and Guidance : Provide IFRS training and guidance to the accounting and finance team to ensure that all financial operations are carried out in accordance with international standards. This includes regular updates on changes in financial regulations and best practices.
  • Collaboration: this role requires close collaboration with the Accounting and Administration Manager to ensure that accounting practices are aligned with compliance requirements and that financial data is accurately represented. Coordination with other departments may also be necessary to ensure company-wide compliance with financial policies and standards.

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent certification.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Finance Transformation and auditing at a Big 4 Accounting Firm.
  • Experience in leading internal audit and/or external auditing processes.
  • Proven track record of leading Finance Transformation initiatives.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting principles, and best practices. (IFRS, USGAAP).
  • Strong knowledge of risk management and implementation of SOX and COSO Controls.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and influencing skills.
  • Proficiency in using financial systems and tools.
  • Knowledge of Mexican accounting and tax regulations.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Desired:

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience in the food or CPG industry is a plus.
  • Experience with finance systems implementation and/or optimization.
  • Experience in a multinational organization.
  • Academic excellence.
