Job Summary
To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add an Automation Mechanical Design Engineer located in Guadalajara, North Campus.
The Automation Engineer role involves being responsible of Defining, Developing, Implementing and proliferating Automation projects, providing consultancy as SME and developing new customer engagement in the region with a focus in technical support.
What a typical day looks like:
  • Define, Implement, and evaluate projects that improve the manufacturability by Automation applications
  • Interpretate mechanical drawings from customer products design to meet all specifications requirements
  • Be able to create and define RFQ/SOW documents to quote with suppliers new integrations
  • Design automation solutions in mechanical area
  • Ensure Mechanical Design to be able to be manufacture
  • Review and be able to approve Mechanical Design drawings, validate deliverables to be quoted
  • Simulate Mechanical Design, from simple automation, custom and full lines automation, to provide visualization and calculate line improvements from implementing solution (CT, UPH, etc)
  • Have the capability to independently or together with other engineering stakeholders identify root causes of failures in the manufacturing process in order to define the best technology.
  • High level participation in daily production activities and effective problem solving on daily issues
  • Have contact with suppliers of new technologies and evaluate them to see which one is better for the required application.
  • Get involved with local teams and operations to provide technical support for the implementation or development of any technology.
  • Work on the maturity of the technologies currently deployed.
  • Train in new technologies that are of interest for the different application areas within flex.
  • Take responsibility for the development or implementation of a project.
  • Train local teams on the technologies
  • Able to quote and follow up implementations on mechanical technical area
  • Work in collaboration with Project Manager to meet timeline
  • Knowledge in Project Management
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
  • BA/BS or equivalent work experience
  • Automation Mechanical Design (DFAA – Design for Automation, EoAT, Stack up of tolerances
  • Management of design SW tools such as: SW, NX, CAD
  • Management of PM tool such as: Microsoft Project, Smartsheet
  • Experience and knowledge in mechanical tolerances for equipment design
  • Knowledge in pneumatic and electrical diagrams reading
  • Knowledge in pneumatic component selection
  • Knowledge in sensors brands and their selection according to application
  • Basic knowledge in Robots, vision and control components for Mechanical Design
  • Experience with suppliers for automation integration solution
  • Management of simulation tools for automation applications, such as: SW, Visual components, Flexsim, others
  • Knowledge in Mechanical Design to be fabricated by mechanical systems (e.g., material selection, hardening treatments, tolerances establishment, etc.)
  • Experience in suppliers’ management
  • Knowledge and experience in Engineering Analysis (Core Tools, FEA, DOE, POC, and Lean Manufacturing)
  • Interpretation and establishment of KPI and Operational Metrics for automation devices.
  • Experience in manufacturing process for electronics devices and mechanical assemblies (e.g., dispensing, screw-fastening, welding, soldering, general knowledge in testing, etc.)
  • Training in safety and ergonomics.
  • Experience in definition of preventive maintenance processes.
  • Fluent English, written and spoken.
  • Valid US Visa and passport.
