Overview:
Ellucian Web Services is looking for an experienced web developer with Detailed SharePoint and Office 365 skills. In addition, the position will require custom web development using various languages with multiple frameworks and libraries. Sometimes these will be interfacing with SharePoint, while others may be stand-alone solutions. Our team of developers supports higher education web sites and custom web application needs. Since these needs vary greatly, flexibility in adapting and using new and modern frameworks and libraries is a must. The ability to figure out and recommend solutions to client needs is the primary focus of the position. The ability to find solutions for unique requests will be critical to success.

Where you will make an impact

These duties are deemed typical, but not inclusive of other duties as client and company needs change:
Gathers feedback from client design and technical staff on Web site development needs.
Assists in project planning and application design and forecasts milestones and deadlines.
Manage the workload of multiple clients and multiple projects. Communicate to management when deadlines or milestones are in jeopardy or when problems arise.
Builds user interface applications and back-end databases using various programming and scripting languages.
Authors complex web applications.
Creates prototypes and functional specifications for web applications.
Determines new web technologies to utilize, such as browsers, languages/frameworks, CMS systems and plug-ins, and makes recommendations based on client's needs.
Conceptualizes long-term needs of web development, and plans and manages related projects.
Makes suggestions on creating web technical standards for client needs and internal projects. Participate in efforts to improve the overall web development and delivery process.
Adheres to technical standards of web application development and architecture including scripting, database design, and user interface design.
Helps define and/or follow best practices for security, data integrity, and content and code management.
Work with site leadership to satisfy stated and unstated objectives while reporting through the web services practice. This includes attending or managing ongoing meetings and communications with the appropriate client representation to keep the projects moving forward.
Demonstrates the behaviors of a professional developer committed to serving the needs of multiple clients and the advancement of the profession as a studied discipline. This may include scheduling maintenance work and/or handling critical emergencies outside of normal business hours.
Demonstrates professionalism at working remotely. Be on camera for meetings in professional attire when necessary. Have reliable internet in a quiet and professional looking home environment. Be available during normal business hours for instant communications or short notice meetings.
Stays abreast of industry trends and all applicable technologies, including scripting, security issues, authoring tools, graphic design tools, new languages, methods of service delivery, and consultative practices. Suggests new innovative ideas for clever solutions to customer needs or to proactively create new services.
Occasional travel to client sites may be necessary. Proper business attire is required.

What you will bring

Proven experience with core Microsoft technologies (SharePoint, Office 365 features and functionality(Flow/Power Automate, Forms,Power Apps, etc...), T-SQL, Active Directory, etc...).
Proven experience with Microsoft programming languages (ASP.NET, C#, Classic .ASP, etc...)
Proven experience with core web technologies (PHP, JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, XML, Ajax, API integration, JSON, JQuery, etc.).
Experience integrating and interfacing with third party APIs, Content Management Systems (WordPress, Drupal, etc.), or other data sources.
Strong knowledge of Git/code repositories, MVC and fundamental programming design principals.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to diagram and document solutions.
Knowledge of web standard principles and practices. Ability to be flexible and grow and learn new technologies and frameworks.
Desired Skills
Knowledge of other web development languages (Objective-C, etc.) will be appreciated.
Experience with relational database design and administration (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, etc.).
Experience with structured data formats (arrays, objects) represented using a mark-up language.
Experience with numerous content management systems (WordPress, Drupal, Terminal 4, Mura, etc.).
Experience with ticket tracking systems.
Experience in cross-browser development.
Ability to work on complex problems, both individually and on a team, to provide state-of-the art, highly creative solutions.
Affinity for learning new things, tackling new problems, and researching to solve challenges in a dynamic, results-driven environment.
