Responsibilities

The Opportunity

This role owns and manage the Manufacturing Operational Support Agenda & Initiatives in ITU site to achieve productivity improvements targeted on DVC, involving savings related to:

1. DVC – Digital Value Change

Provides leadership on DVC Vision and Goals Project aligned with Global/Sector Standards and recommendations. Deployed Sector strategy focused aware of costs, benefits and results. Validate with sector leadership regarding global alignments.

Own project timeline for MES & PdM Online to give visibility to Sr. Management in LATAM sector. Key point of contact for information requested.

Support DVC program management and implementation following the main initiatives of the program:

  • Smart Equipment: Breakthrough technology, and machine intelligence enables fully automated operations that reduce variability, eliminate waste , and minimize human intervention.
  • Digital Quality & Utilities: Guarantee end to end connectivity from OT equipment to IT layout in order to extract real time information, enabling next gen capabilities and auto controls projects.
  • Control Tower: Transform line operations from multiple operators / line to centralized control or remote management. Supply chain visibility integrates decision making.

2. MES – Manufacturing Execution System & PdM – Predictive Maintenance

Develop and execute sector/global strategies to manage the manufacturing control and information systems (C&IS - hardware, software, and network) within Operations, driving operating efficiencies and standards. To manage all aspects of the interface between Operations and the business service functions (I.T., R&D, Engineering, MOS/Tech Services) with respect to the manufacturing control and information systems, ensuring all service levels are met and project benefits realized.

3. C&IS – Control & Information System

Responsible for OT project deployments, improving plant´s control systems installed to drive productivity and lines efficiencies (Throughput loss real time, downtime real time, energy saving initiatives, Smart Equipment, Control Room, Digital Quality, Digital Utilities and Global Initiatives)

Provides technical leadership across all levels (6 to 10) within Operations. Works with Technical Services and IT Managers (L7-10), and has frequent interaction with Operations Managers and Site Leadership teams.

Design and develop OT Network data strategy to provide real time data from manufacturing equipment to IT/Cloud platforms.

Your Impact

As Control Engineer - Guadalajara your responsibilities would consist of

DVC:

-Lead MES and Predictive Maintenance capabilities from a linear and reactive supply chain to a connected and responsive value chain.

-Responsible for our Sector Standard real-time shop floor solution plant infrastructure to unlock benefits through implementation of change plan leveraging deployment playbooks.

-Coordinate DVC change management and communication activities within sector supply chain

-Design, develop and implement strategic SCADA and MES initiatives across the manufacturing site with Capex approved.

-Responsible for the Quality Assurance of Vallejo site implemented MES software design and coding.

-Influence the strategic direction and standards in Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) for Chile and South Cone.

-Manage major control and MES projects across the Chile and South Cone.

-Responsible for South Cone wide governance and change control processes to ensure standard applications across all sites.

-Improve and upgrade the software tools to maintain the investments, increase efficiency, and ensure lowest Total Cost of Ownership.

-Build capability into site and central functions to support and sustain the critical systems, and provide technical support resource as required.

-Manage relationships with our external system suppliers and partners to deliver performance and cost improvements.

Develop and coordinate the strategy in Manufacturing Control and Information Systems:

-Provide leadership in developing and/or supporting a common technical platform strategy, integrating with the I.T. business infrastructure and direction. Build partnerships with technical solution providers to leverage expertise and assure they deliver value-add for services provided.

-Publish and maintain the strategy document and standards.

-Implement and manage structured specification systems and change control procedures to enforce standard software, hardware, and network implementations such that reliable, consistent information is delivered to the business managers.Set standards and service levels for the maintenance and availability of control and information systems.

Identify opportunities to improved efficiency through the use of control and information systems:

-Understand the strategic direction of the Operations function and identify opportunities for control        and information system investment that will reduce costs and increase efficiencies. Gain alignment within the business for the benefits case and within the technical functions fo the solution. -Translate opportunities into specific project deliverables, aligning internal and external technical resources to the priorities and resource requirements.-Assess and measure the impact and benefits realization of all projects.

Manage the interface between Operations and the other functions on. I.T:-Understand the requirements of the interacting business functions and assess the impact on Operations. Influence the strategic thinking, shaping the systems and business processes to the benefit of Operations.-Communicate the implications of proposed systems/automation projects to the senior Operations team.-Agree service levels for key delivery and I.T. infrastructure services.

Support and develop the technical specialist roles within Operations-Build capability into the site structures to support the control and information systems.-Provide technical leadership for the control specialists in role at site level

Qualifications

Who Are We Looking For?

  • Education: bachelor in engineering First Degree or equivalent in Engineering (Industrial/Electrical/Mechanical preferred)
  • Experience required: a proven track record in developing/implementing control and information systems in a manufacturing environment, demonstrable broad awareness and understanding of IT technology, at least 5 years background in major, multi-discipline project management, and a strong understanding of at least two key functional areas of the business.
  • Computer literate – Advanced Excel, Power Point
  • Advanced technical knowledge of:
    • MSSQL Server database design and SQL programming.
    • SCADA systems and Historians – Wonderware InTouch is essential
    • PLC systems – Rockwell and Siemens is essential
    • IIOT – Industrial Internet of Things and Big Data
  • Wide-ranging knowledge of manufacturing software systems, processes and applications.
  • Demonstrated technical expert knowledge in M&R Techniques with training and coaching skills.
  • Language: Spanish / English fluent
  • Project/service management, effective communication and selling, negotiation and influencing skills at all levels within the business and demonstrated thought leadership. In depth knowledge of process factors impacting. True efficiency for the lines in order to address main opportunities for the region.
  • Direct experience with large scale change initiatives
  • Ability to develop winning strategies/plans, understand functional interfaces, aligns team for action against key priorities
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Project management and leadership skills
  • Experience deploying IT Tools and solutions in operations (preferred)
  • Strategic Thinking and Planning skills
  • Skilled at collaborating across function, sector, and business boundaries effectively
  • Team Work and Leadership/Coaching capabilities (Experience managing direct reports)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively up and down the organization
  • Must be willing to travel (Frequently 20% of time)
  • Temporary - Project time: 1 to 2 years
  • Work Location: GUADALAJARA
