The Opportunity

"The Data Privacy Lead is responsible for ensuring the organization's compliance with all applicable privacy laws and regulations. They will work daily with the Data Privacy team member as they work through the Data Privacy program initiatives.  They will work with stakeholders across the organization to ensure that all personal data is collected, processed, and stored in accordance with privacy laws, company policies, and industry best practices. The Data Privacy Lead will oversee and be responsible for privacy impact assessments, maintaining privacy standards and procedures, and responding to privacy-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders. Will also monitor the organization's privacy program to ensure it is effective and up to date with changing laws and regulations." − Hiring Manager.

What You’ll Contribute

  • Create and manage project plans for Data Privacy initiatives, ensuring that they are completed on time and within budget.
  • Develop and maintain metrics and reporting dashboards, provide regular analysis, trends,  and insights into progress and performance, and identify and address potential issues and risks.
  • Responsible for leading the Data Privacy team on daily implementation and execution of Data Privacy initiatives within the Data Privacy team and across the organization.
  • Leading a privacy audit plan for the purpose of identifying potential weaknesses, and gaps, and suggested remediations to achieve regulatory compliance.
  • Review and analyze current and pending legislation and federal privacy requirements and provide comments and feedback on how the requirements may affect the privacy program and the development of new controls.
  • Communicate program progress, escalations, and issue analysis to key stakeholders. Clearly document evidence and periodic status reporting to the relevant internal stakeholders who are engaged in privacy compliance. These meetings will enable the stakeholders to support, update, or correct the scope and approach of the internal audits and other activities.
  • Work to align advanced technologies and Privacy by Design principles from the first stages of development and ensure that the data used meets established regulatory compliance needs.
  • Collaborate with data product development teams creating new uses of data that employ privacy features.
  • Interacting with internal product managers, product development teams, and legal, compliance, governance, and data protection team.
  • Analyze, design, and program software enhancements for new data streams with the goal of developing technical solutions and systems to help mitigate privacy vulnerabilities and prevent potential future privacy risks.
  • Develop, implement, and manage privacy standards and procedures in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Respond to privacy-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders, including data subjects, regulators, and other interested parties.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable global privacy laws and regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, and others.
  • Monitor the organization's privacy program to ensure it is effective and up to date with changing laws and regulations.
  • Provide guidance to the organization on privacy matters, including the handling of personal data and privacy-related complaints.
  • Work with the legal and compliance teams to ensure privacy requirements are included in contracts and agreements with vendors and third-party providers.
  • Provide training and education on privacy best practices to employees and stakeholders.
  • Stay current on privacy laws and regulations, industry trends, and emerging technologies to ensure the organization remains compliant.
     

What We’re Seeking

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, such as computer science, computer engineering, information systems, privacy engineering, or a related field of study.
  • Experience in privacy or compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of privacy laws and regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, and HIPAA.
  • Experience conducting privacy impact assessments and risk assessments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex privacy concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate privacy risks.
  • Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or other relevant certification is a plus.
  • Familiarity with and ability to leverage Jira and Confluence.
  • Preferred software-related certifications or experience.
  • Preferred experience in project management or a related field.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
