The Edison Works Engine Controls Embedded Software - Verification and Validation Leader demonstrates accountability for functional, business, and broad company objectives. In this role, you will collaborate with other Control Systems, Software & Hardware leads and teams to develop, integrate, and support requirements-based controls, software and PHM validation and verification strategic plans and tests as part of lifecycle activities through practices that provide a high level of efficiency to the assigned airborne Embedded Software projects.
The Edison Works Engine Controls Embedded Software - Verification and Validation Leader will engage in technical leader activities, for assigned programs, and address complex issues as they arise, mentor team members, collaborate in long-term planning, and contribute to the overall execution strategy.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide technical leadership direction to your team, ensuring compliance to company regulations, standards, and work processes
  • Plan activities for your team members that align with company objectives and customer milestones
  • Develop plans for resources assigned to your project and identify gaps 
  • Take a leadership role in continuous improvement activities
  • Requires specialized knowledge of Verification and Validation (specifically model coverage analysis and structural coverage analysis methods and techniques) within the function. Influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility and influences policy formulation.
  • Interprets simple internal and external business challenges and recommends best practices to improve products, processes, or services. Stays informed of industry trends that may inform work.
  • Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems in areas of operational, product management, manufacturing, technology, or engineering. Has ability to assess quality of information given and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders. Able to offer new solutions to problems outside of set parameters and is able to construct and provide recommendations. Uses multiple internal and some external sources outside of own function to help arrive at a decision.
  • May lead functional teams or projects with minimal resource requirements, risk, and/or complexity. Communicates difficult concepts and may influence others' options on particular topics. May guide others to consider a different point of view.
  • Facilitate a high level of collaboration between your team and other areas of GE Aerospace and ensure work outputs are aligned with customer/program needs
  • Manage resource supply and demand for your team, and coordinate activities amongst GE Aerospace and suppliers and/or contractors
  • Proactively communicate and support senior leadership with technical, organizational, resourcing, and staffing information and actions

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an engineering discipline
  • US Citizen, and ability and willingness to obtain and maintain a DoD Security clearance

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience with Certification or Qualification of Airborne Embedded Software
