Position Summary:

Reporting to the Manager of Facilities & Logistics, the Facility Specialist will:

• Maintain the cleanliness of laboratories, clean rooms, shipping and packaging areas, waste areas, material storage areas, and other areas as assigned in accordance with GMP requirements.

• Ensure cleaning materials, gowning materials and production materials are available at designated locations.

• Support material transfer activities from initial receipt to production.

• Assist in facility maintenance activities.

• Proper handling, recording, storage, and disposal of hazardous waste.

• Coordinate the controlled disposal of hazardous waste.

Responsibilities:

• Perform cleaning and sanitization of facility as per Standard Operating Procedures.

• Perform sanitization duties in a clean room while gowned.

• Accurately record and document cleaning/sanitization activities in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures.

• Coordinate the disposal of controlled waste.

• Maintain inventory of personal protective equipment and cleaning supplies at designated locations.

• Complete all cleaning schedules as per cleaning frequency.

• Adhere to all applicable procedures, cGMPs, company policies and any other quality or regulatory requirements.

• Cleans and assists with upkeep of facilities.

• Coordinate maintenance work in UHN facilities with staff and third-party contractors

• Support material stocking and maintain material storage area.

• Support material transfer activities to ensure that materials are stored in designated locations.

Basic Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.

• 2 years prior sanitation experience in a GMP environment.

Additional Preferences:

• Aseptic gowning or clean room experience preferred.

• Understanding of good documentation practices, GMP, and SOP.

Additional Information:

• Must be able to work on your feet for 8 hours.

• Must be able to perform tasks with hands/arms raised above head for short periods of time.

• Working schedule is during business hours five days a week. A flexible working schedule will be required. Cleaning and maintenance activities are dependent on production, maintenance, and cleaning schedule. Weekend work may be required.

• This role works in a hospital setting and it is mandatory for all employees to complete health screens before onboarding. In the event the screen results show non-immunity, vaccines may need to be administered.
