Summary

Provide strategic and tactical leadership and for Griffith Foods businesses requirements for a specific region or site(s) for the function of Food Safety and Quality Systems as it relates to supplier and co-man quality.

Provide the single leadership within a region of one management group to closely align efforts and measure / improve performance in the areas of supplier and co-man quality against expectations of standards and customers.

Enabler for the region to use a supplier / co-man quality FSQS staff in efforts to transform our operations group to better perform against customer requirements.

Regional manager and leader for all FSQS communications with suppliers and co-mans providing oversight of sites / business performance within a region.

Creates alignment and commitment with all regional FSQS initiatives against procurement needs to deliver improved performance consistency, standards consistency, customer satisfaction, and business enablement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

FS & QS Programs

  • Overall responsibility for the region’s supplier and co-man food safety and quality systems programs related to procurement and compliance, as well as regional policy alignment.
  • Leads and develops plans to standardize quality measurements and protocols for all materials at all sites within the region, including best practice utilization.
  • A member of the regional FSQS Team and ensures alignment of FSQS expectations across regional supplier and co-man functions and regional support functional members.

The position provides regular updates to the team, the regional FSQS Director and procurement management regarding the FSQS function.

  • Provides oversight into the process of managing all suppliers including approval, performance evaluations and disapproval of suppliers within the entire region.
  • Assure the region is in compliance for all global policies related to supplier and co-man aspects of FSQS, including review and acceptance of Food Safety plans and performance.
  • Represents the supplier / co-man quality concerns as a member of the Regional Food Safety

team and key integration contact for Griffith Global FSQS and GF practices who continuously strives toward standardization of practices and methodology.

  • Oversee, tracks, and compares performance of suppliers and co-mans regarding performance in the areas of raw material violations, complaints, errors, audits and provides direction for improvement via monthly score KPI reporting.
  • Assures compliance to all local regulations and regulations related to countries of export within the region.
  • Provides local guidance and leadership to comply with the British Retail Consortium (BRC) Food Safety and Quality framework.
  • Collaborates with site FSQS site and regional managers for supplier and co-man required
  • information, audits, and any issues (complaints and nonconformances).
  • Aligns with site FSQS Managers, R&D and all other regional quality groups to ensure the commercial process is efficient and effective for new products.
  • Assures that supplier and co-man policy requirements are maintained within the region and at each supplier and co-man manufacturing site by review and conducting audits.
  • Assures that regional co-mans are in compliance of GF standards.
  • Lead coordinator for managing visits and audits at all suppliers and co-mans within the region and assures all corrective actions are appropriate and communicated.
  • Leads the regional Food Fraud team, manages related reports and systems and is a member of all global Food Fraud meetings.

Technical Representation, Customer Relations & Crisis Management

  • This role provides leadership for all supplier / co-man Food Safety and Quality areas across the region including reviews of supplier program coordination / decision making, common Supplier Quality communication, business quality communications and management updates.
  • Acts as the regional technical lead person for Food Safety and Quality Systems regarding supplier and co-man FSQS needs and communications and BRC requirements / customer requirements.
  • Primary regional technical liaison between Procurement and Supply Chain teams during development and new product trials.
  • Determines ways and promote an initiative-taking than reactive relation with supplier and co-man quality with key materials / suppliers to improve internal and external client satisfaction.
  • Represents the region for FSQS elements during major complaints with Suppliers and Co-mans.
  • Contributes by providing information and resolution to product or conditional issues for the regional Crisis team. Provides appropriate updates to the crisis team as needed.
  • Expert on regional procedures that support company policies and objectives for Supplier Quality.
  • Expert on regional co-man requirements and needs.

General Administration

  • Provides QS updates to Procurement management, FSQS leadership, regional Leadership, and all other support departments on FSQS supplier / material key initiatives, challenges, failures, and improvements.
  • Promotes continuous improvement on FSQS supplier processes to achieve stronger linkages between sites and the company overall process.
  • Works with other departmental heads to achieve company success on new product and new equipment / process initiatives related to material / supplier concerns.
  • Provides feedback related to supplier performance Site / regional FSQS / Management. Reviews and provides direction for corrective action requirements.
  • Defines and approves budgets for expenses or capital investments for own department and influences other when connected to food safety programs improvement.

Supervisory & People Management

  • Is responsible of organizational development and works with regional FSQS director to assure that appropriate structure and job roles are in place to support business needs and capitalizes global best practices.
  • Is responsible of interviewing, selecting, and hiring new team members as well as directing an effective onboarding for new employees training.
  • Responsible of defining smart goals for department members, manage workloads and performance reviews.
  • Responsible of the Talent Development Process for staff including performance reviews, training, and couching as well as of succession planning design.
  • Is responsible of addressing personnel complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree.
  • Minimum 7 years related experience in the food industry and the food safety and quality function.
  • 4 years of progressive management experience.
  • Regional Regulation, ISO 9000, Pathogen Control, Allergen Control, third party audit and GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) knowledge necessary.
  • CI Belt attainment : Black, green, or yellow preferred.
  • Experience with ERP and LIMS systems activities aligned with FSQS (Traceability, product management, more).
  • Individual must have professional and effective communication skills, oral and written, technical writing skills are imperative.
  • People / Team development and building skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office Skills, such as Word and Excel.
  • Possess the analytical skills to evaluate data and make sound judgments regarding the business.
  • Bilingual is a plus.
  • Must be able to travel 35%.
