About the Role

The Claims Technician is responsible for prompt and efficient review and processing of claim documents and transactions received by internal/external clients.  Our Central Processing Team handles our electronic messaging claims where their time is spent problem solving and identifying error solutions to help improve automation.

Responsible for prompt and efficient analysis of claim documents and communication received by internal/external clients on all LOBs.  Analysts process claim documents including set up of new claims, correspondence with clients and partners, and processing financial updates in the system.  They are also responsible to set efficient Technical Approval on Flow claims, data quality overall and create consistency between the information in the system and the treaty or contract.  This person should be self-motivated with analytical skills and attention to detail. This person must be able to work in a dynamic environment with the ability to navigate through periods of change and ambiguity.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Review and process claim documents and transactions in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner within established turnaround time.
  • Identify error solutions and submit proposals for work arounds.
  • Understand impact of automation and dependencies.  Seek improvement opportunities to streamline the process.
  • Perform root cause analysis on trending errors.
  • Identify/determine any required financial adjustments.
  • Independently analyze basic coverage and set up claims.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the financial transaction end-to-end process and understanding of the big picture. 
  • Understand basic Reinsurance treaties and technical clauses and can apply them.
  • Exhibit an operational mind-set with focus on efficiency and standardization.
  • Maintain data quality by creating consistency between the information in the system and treaty or certificate.  Ensure requirements of corporate policies and controls are met.  (SOPs, ITC, LPE)
  • Communicate clearly with fellow team members, provide, and receive feedback for and from peers, customers, and leadership team.
  • Participate in the development of various projects in Operations.
  • Exhibit an awareness of downstream impact to reporting, financials, balance sheet and automation.
  • Understand ACORD standards, identify and support eAdmin solutions (B3i, robotics, etc.) to improve automation and efficiency.  

About the Team

The Americas P&C Business Management Operations team is a culturally and geographically diverse team, responsible for the management of all Technical Accounting and Claim Operations for P&C Reinsurance.  With our continuous improvement mindset, our desire is to provide our external clients and internal peers with fast, easy and effective ways of conducting business within an environment where the risks are understood.

About You

  • Reinsurance/Insurance experience, preferably in Claims or Claims Operations
  • Ability to handle multiple activities, meet deadlines and prioritize workload.
  • Excellence in new workflow technologies such as ACORD, B3i, Robotics, etc.  
  • SharePoint and Microsoft Suite preferred.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to look for creative solutions to resolve errors.
  • Demonstrate data analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Able to work in a virtual/remote international/global/multicultural team environment.
  • Fluent in English. 
  • College degree or related business experience preferred.
