JOB DESCRIPTION
The Vehicle Propulsion Systems Engineering organization is looking for a highly qualified and motivated engineer to join our HIL/SIL Powertrain Calibration Methods Team. The application of SIL and HIL based calibration processes to our calibration development is new and developing. To efficiently use these test environments, there is a need to have close collaboration with the commodity calibration teams in test method development, test execution, and data reviews. In addition, to support efficient testing, there is a need to develop and maintain test automation and user interface tools. This position is in the Vehicle Propulsive Systems Engineering organization, and Cyber Calibration Team, where you will work alongside team members developing SIL and HIL Methods and Processes for calibration. The Cyber Calibration Team is committed to envisioning and creating methods, tools, and processes that increase our calibration development and validation efficiency and quality.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop methods to support development and validation in a CAE based environment (HIL/SIL) of next generation Electric Vehicle, Hybrid Vehicle, and Internal Combustion Engine controls and calibrations.
- Document and automate existing procedures to be executed with minimal user input/effort.
- Design new HIL validation procedures in collaboration with Technical Specialists.
- Implement shareable enhancements in capabilities and test implementation.
- Work with other Cyber Calibration workstreams to support ongoing HIL operational improvement:
- Develop test automation tool chain to support efficient test execution in a HIL environment.
- Collaborate with modeling and calibration teams for HIL enhancements.
- Collaborate with HIL Engineers and Technicians to debur issues, enhance HIL performance, and address hardware concerns.
- Engage in program planning and plan alignment with calibration teams.
- Collaborate with Calibration Engineers to drive increased use of HIL/SIL environments:
- Lead in executing tests and delivering quality data and analysis to calibration partners.
- Demonstrate and mentor Calibration Engineers to drive their increased participation in HIL use.
- Guide/Teach work partners about the capabilities of HIL and review of results for increased participation in HIL use and increase development efficiency.
- Perform correlation analysis with vehicle data and investigate discrepancies to implement resolutions.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with On Board Diagnostics, Fuel Economy, Electric Vehicle Range, Vehicle Performance, Vehicle Drivability, and Emission Regulatory Requirements Worldwide.
- 2+ years of experience in similar positions is a plus.
- Strong programming, scripting and tool development skills (Visual Basic and Python are a must. Matlab, Simulink, ECU-Test, are desirable).
- Understanding of internal combustion engines, electrified propulsion systems, and thermodynamics.
- English proficiency is a must.
