The role of the In Room Dining Manager

The In-Room DiningManager is responsible for planning, organizing and controlling the work of employees in the In-Room Department while ensuring guest satisfaction. This position provides an enjoyable, expertly served beverage or dining experience conforming to Four Seasons standards of excellence for quality, professionalism and friendliness.

Essential Functions

  • Select, train, evaluate, lead, motivate, coach, and discipline all employees, and supervisors in the Hotel’s in Room Dining Department to ensure that established cultural and core standards are met; daily activities and planning for outlet operation
  • The ability to be visible in the operation, provide recognition, promote good public relations, and handle complaints, concerns or special requests for guests, clients, and group contacts
  • Describe and ensure quality of all food items, ingredients, and preparation methods, as well as provide knowledge of wine and spirits for 24-hour a day in-Room Dining and in-room private bar services
  • Work closely with the Food and Beverage Director, Executive Chef to design effective menu and amenity options while ensuring excellent product quality at a fair price and attend regular operational meetings to ensure effective coordination and cooperation between department
  • Control labor and operating expenses through effective scheduling, budgeting, purchasing decisions, and inventory and cash control
  • Observe physical condition of facilities and equipment in the In Room Dining and Private Bar area and make recommendations for corrections and improvements as needed

Knowledge and Skills

Education:

  • College Degree education or equivalent experience in F&B field

Experience:

  • Experience required in management positions minimum of 3 (three) years
  • Prior experience in Food & Beverage department is highly desirable

Skills and Abilities:

  • Requires knowledge of the ability to operate computer equipment
  • Prior experience in Micros System
  • Ability to read and speak and write in English and Spanish
  • Understand and familiar with quality standards and service standards of the hotel
  • Reasonable cost analysis and cost management skills
  • Highest level of integrity and transparency
  • Apply an ethical approach to the outcome of situations
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to work with cross-functional teams and vendors’ delivery man
  • Reasonable problem-solving, decision-making and conflict resolution skills
  • Work in a safe, prudent and organized manner
