Job Description

This position is responsible for the Nitinol Tube Value Stream from incoming material through the drawing process to the finished product.

There are additional opportunities to work on designing and building fixtures to shape set Nitinol components in collaboration with medical device customer development teams.

Across these product lines there will be a major emphasis on applying lean manufacturing techniques to increase throughput and quality.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Designs, develops and improves the Nitinol Tube Value Stream with a focus on on safety, quality and productivity. Develop robust solutions that prevent defects from being generated or passed on;

and provide data analytics for process monitoring and diagnostics.

  • Drives continuous improvement and supports the site Lean Manufacturing initiatives as they relate to the Nitinol Tube Value Stream.
  • Liaise with Maintenance to enable permanent resolution of equipment and / or process design flaws
  • Routinely utilizes Solidworks for designing fixtures.
  • Responsibility for Nitinol Tube Value Stream from initial evaluation of manufacturing feasibility through to validation of process, qualification of product and confirmation of capability during early development level production.
  • Reviews customers’ medical component design and specifications to provide technical feedback on the feasibility of manufacturing, design to manufacture costs savings options and collaborates with sales team in providing customer quotes.
  • Develops and prepares capital or process change justifications in support of proposed solutions or improvements.
  • Fully manages and / or participates in implementation of new equipment and processes including the FAT / SAT process, on-site validation (IQ / OQ / PQ), training of necessary staff and updating process documentation.
  • Develops robust process controls using Quality Engineering tools (PFMEA, Control Plan, etc.) for new part qualifications and / or during standard process analyses.

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science.
  • Advanced English.
  • Solidworks experience.
  • 3+ yrs experience in working in lean manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
