About the role

The Network Specialist II is responsible for the day-to-day support to the Amcor Americas network performance, LAN & WAN. This includes installation, support, maintenance and monitoring of the Amcor networking environment based on global standards. This role serves as a lead for internal team projects in areas such as maintenance, asset refresh and acts as a subject matter expert for network related technologies. You will be a part of the IT Center of Excellence team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, and highly available infrastructure to support business objectives for North and South America locations.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Provides day-today support for the Amcor Americas network environment. Including managing incidents, changes, monitoring to provide pro-active resolution of issues and performing maintenance activities following ITIL principles.
  • Provides level II/III user support for network related incidents, requests and problem management
  • Lead team maintenance efforts including annual hardware asset refresh and annual software maintenance and patching
  • Ensures that all changes are reviewed and approved by appropriate management before resources are committed - this includes scheduling reviews with management and appropriate personnel to review the risks to business processes
  • Responsible for all activities relating to problem reporting and change control for assigned projects
  • Demonstrate research skills & the ability to self-direct training to keep current with technology advancements
  • Demonstrate and grow technical skills in OSI model, network switching, routing, web content filtering, firewall and load balancing technologies. Technical area include: Networking Protocols/Services BGP, OSPF, IPSec, GRE, HSRP/VRRP, NAT/PAT, SNMP, MPLS, VPLS, QoS, Multicast, STP, 10GigE, GigE, 10/100 Ethernet, T1, DS3, GTM, LTM, DNS, Application Firewalls and Load Balancing
  • Working knowledge with Automation platforms, specifically technical knowledge with Python in network OS and scripting to empower and support automation process in networking configuration and management.
  • Grow and become a key technical subject matter expert for network technologies such as routing, switching, web content filtering, firewall, IPS and load balancing technologies
  • Diagnose and resolve problems across a variety of hardware and software platforms and vendors including Cisco, Citrix NetScaler, and more across our client base
  • Interact with global peers within the network technologies and across other departments, to solve the more challenging escalated problems as well as change implementations from the simple, to the more complex
  • Document standard operating procedures, diagrams, and training materials for use by the team
  • Demonstrate skills to facilitate and coordinate internal team projects
  • Setup of standardized systems monitoring across all Americas sites
  • Collaborate and work closely with other members of the IT Operations team
  • On-call based on a rotating 24x7 schedule
Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience/studies
  • Minimum of 4 - 6 years’ experience in an enterprise technical IT environment
  • CCNA or equivalent network certification
  • Solid knowledge of Cisco and Fortinet LAN, WLAN, firewalls and SD-WAN technologies
  • ITIL certificate is considered plus
  • CCNP or higher Cisco certification considered a plus
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to fluently communicate at all levels in English. Portuguese and/or Spanish considered plus
  • Solid knowledge of infrastructure subjects, technological trends and innovation
  • Good understanding of systems monitoring and experience in setting up monitoring tools
  • Experience in project management
  • Ability to work under pressure in a high throughput business environment
  • Excellent organization skills; able to plan, organize and prioritize workload
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to fluently communicate at all levels in English
  • Willingness to learn and be adaptable to the changing requirements of the job
  • Good attention to detail
