POSITION TARGET

The mission for a CPM is to manage cross functional development projects either in an AE phase (from TKO to IR acc. to Technology Development process) or in an industrialization phase (from PCID to EG acc. to DVP project handbook). It is the CPM´s responsibility to manage the project according to Volvo GTT methodologies, standards & processes, using decided systems and valid guidelines. The CPM manages the project and the project team within a cross functional environment, providing leadership and structured roadmaps.

The CPM reports and communicates in the Steering Committee, Decision Bodies, as well as management and customer forums.

ACTIVITIES

The CPM is fully responsible and accountable for the overall delivery and timing of the assigned project.

The CPM must proactively lead, drive and follow-up all aspects of the project according to the DVP project handbook and decided support processes, managing the

stakeholders, communicate and minimize the risks, delivering the total project on time, with agreed product and project Quality, Cost, and Features (QDCF) according

to the agreed and approved project defining documents and making sure customer requirements are reflected in those.

The CPM is responsible for stakeholder dialogue and negotiation and internal as well as external communication related to the project.

In crucial issues, the CPM prepares recommendations for approval by the Steering Committee, initiates actions accordingly, e.g. corrective actions and approved

changes.

The CPM is responsible for leading the Project Management Team according to “Leadership the Volvo Way” and PM Leadership skills.

The CPM is also responsible for:

Creating, maintaining and aligning project Main Time Plan with time plan from functional areas and related projects.

Managing the project cost - establish, forecast, follow-up, analysis of deviations, challenge, define priorities.

Developing, releasing and maintaining the Project Description.

Establishing the contract, taking the commitment, requesting the needed resources for the project, regardless of whether those are inside or outside GTT.

Contributing to leading the Pre-Study, depending on the specific assignment, together with Product Planning in industrialization projects

Acting as the primary negotiator for the feasibility study and for balancing Prerequisites vs. Project Description.

Driving the project according to DVP project handbook.

Being the primary point of contact with concerned project(s).

Fulfilling the project scope

Securing Gate deliverables/tasks according to PAP.

Identifying, driving and implementing lessons learned.

Pro-actively identifying and creating action plans, communicating impact and alternatives to reduce risk throughout the project

In case of an Advanced Engineering project, the CPM promotes a deep technical reflection within the project, and pushes the most promising innovations within the

project to deliver technologies as part of complete systems which meet defined requirements and pre-requisites.

Within Maintenance project setup, the CPM also has the following responsibilities:

Defining/Assessing PMR maturity at handover stage with authority to decline inclusion if not ready

Providing/maintaining a holistic overview of product changes (e.g. Complete Truck Delivery report or similar) for each Introblock introduction and coordinating actions

to ensure a successful introduction.

The Maintenance CPM may also have additional responsibilities depending on site delegation.

The CPM is also responsible to lead the PM’s in their project work and to secure cross functional work with leadership and motivation. Driving the resolution of main

project issues as a task force leader, anticipating future issues and prioritize activities.

A CPM shall be a role model to his/her project team and to the entire organization.
