Junior Tax Analyst

Mexico is regarded as one of AIG’s most complex and dynamic tax jurisdictions - undergoing tax reforms on an annual basis with regular tax authority query and interaction. The Tax function is one of more important back-office area of the company which main role is manage accurate and efficient tax information and planning and ensure compliance with tax laws for the company or client as well as risk mitigation.

The tax management is then in charge of ensuring that the organization is kept up-to-date on everything related to taxes, both with the corresponding payments and with the tax reforms. In addition to support in the expansion process providing support, expertise, and partnership to business areas.

About the role
What you need to know:

The primary purpose of the job is to prepare federal and state tax compliance and social contributions for functional business units, to prepare the reconciliation process of tax accounts, to update bi-weekly the tax information electronically and physically (tax billboard), to attend US GAAP reporting queries from Indian Finance Center (tax payments. Also, to assist to Regional Tax Manager in duties and projects related to LAC Region.

This role would suit an individual within knowledge and experience of the direct and indirect tax regime.

Your contribution at AIG

The employee will provide assist to Regional Tax Manager in duties and projects related to LAC Region.

 Duties and Responsibilities
  • To calculate and to prepare federal taxes (ISR-prepayments, VAT, withholding taxes, Asset Tax, Special-Unique economic contributions, and Large Financial Transactions Tax) for review in an accurate and timely manner.
  • To calculate and prepare monthly state and social contributions (Premium Tax, Turnover Tax, Municipal Environmental Tax -IMA, National Fire Fund – FONBE, Broker Commissions and Peasant Social Security) for review in an accurate and timely manner.
  • To prepare the Tax provision for additional LAC entities.
  • To prepare and review monthly reconciliations of tax accounts and quarterly US GAAP queries (tax payments analysis).
  • To update Venezuelan VAT books.
  • To ensure the updating of the tax billboard in case of Tax Authorities visits (Venezuela).
  • To review the invoices issued by providers to ensure that the requirements are meet.
  • To manage the Tax Certificates.
  • To prepare the corresponding payments order of the tax liabilities.
  • To assist to Regional Tax Manager in duties and projects related to LAC Region.
Key Capabilities
  • Accounting knowledge with tax experience.
  • Responsive to time pressure and ability to work to agreed deadlines and objectives.
  • Able to coordinate, identify, assess, and communicate relevant issues on a timely basis.
  • Proactive attitude to improve processes.
  • Strong customer service skills.
What we’re looking for:
  • Solid level of tax experience in the Insurance industry or financial services.
  • Experience with technical activities within a regulated environment.
  • Spanish and basic English level (desired).
  • Certified public accountant or student of last years.
  • Experience: 2 years in similar positions.
  • Experience of negotiating with tax authorities.
