Chemours is seeking a Logistics Leader for the Procurement organization . This position will manage all Logistics Spend and related Suppliers for the Altamira site – Mexico, physically being based on this location and reporting to the LATAM Logistics Manager.

Chemours has an important manufacturing operation in Altamira, for our Titanium Dioxide Business, with a very large and complex logistics operations, which involves Product Handling, Road and Ocean Transportation, Warehousing, Customs Brokers and Port Terminal activities, through inhouse operations and also external warehouses and transportation. Managing properly the logistics suppliers from this operation and influencing them to provide a World Class service is critical to the Business Growth Strategy. This involves significant change management and user adoption is important for our success.

We are looking for a Logistics Leader who can strongly influence the logistics suppliers on delivering the service level we need, challenge them for better performance and to be in compliance with commercial and operational agreements, working independently and with supervision from the regional logistics abroad manager, and be comfortable to interact with senior leadership and stakeholders inside and outside of the country, and be able to manage replacement and implementation of new suppliers. Be able to take fast decisions and escalate subjects as need, to not cause operational disruption is critical for this role. The right person for this role will need to have strategic mindset and good decision-making skills, be comfortable to interact and prepare presentations to high levels of the organization.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Category Management

  • Analyze category spend and look for savings opportunities.
  • Monitor supply chain risks and address proactively.
  • Analyze industry and look for best practices.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategy to select the right supplier partners.
  • Develop and execute transition of supplier / operating model.
  • Manage Supplier Performance by conducting business reviews and ensuring contractual KPIs are met.
  • Understand the functionality and connection among different suppliers and ensure they work properly to reach the right service level, without Business disruption.
  • Accountable to manage all the logistics suppliers from all categories who provide services to the plant site, as warehousing, transportation, port terminals, customs broker, and ocean carriers.

Business Engagement

  • Act as the Logistics site Leader for all Logistics Categories and demand from the site Business, Functions and Key Stakeholders.
  • Represent Logistics Function on the site Supply Chain and Operations requirements for the site.
  • Proactively monitor and suggest improvements to the operation as it goes.
  • Provide leadership and influence Business´ stakeholders to adopt best practices on Logistics, according to recommendation from Logistics Function.
  • Act as the formal Logistics Leader for the site, being the focal point for all demands for Logistics that comes from the Business, and reach support from the other members of Logistics Latam Team.
  • Interact often with global, regional, and country levels teams, to ensure proper understanding of the Business strategies and priorities.

Contract Management

  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers for the cost, commercial and legal aspects.
  • Prepare the services contracts with support from Country Legal Function and manage them to drive user and suppliers’ adoption and contract compliance.
  • Focal point of support for end users to address properly new demands, unresolved issues, and conflicts with suppliers, as well as suppliers’ performance.

The following is required for this role:

  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field
  • Solid knowledge and experience in Logistics Categories management, with strong focus on Warehousing and Road Transportation.
  • Understanding of commercial contract language
  • Knowledge of WMS functionality (Warehousing Management System)
  • Knowledge of TMS functionality (Transportation Management System)
  • Experience in analyzing impacts to make fast decisions to meet the site supply needs.
  • Strong communication skills to represent our function in different levels of internal stakeholders as well as with suppliers.
  • Ability to manage replacement and/or implementation of new suppliers and new operations.
  • Advanced level of English for speaking, writing, and reading.
  • Proven Digital savvy and data driven skills.
  • Customer focus, Communicates effectively and Drive results competencies.

The following is preferred for this role:

  • Several years of Logistics management background.
  • Experience in working across functions.
