The Company
Torex Gold Resources Inc. is an intermediate gold producer engaged in the exploration, development and operation of our wholly-owned Morelos Property, an area of 29,000-hectares in the highly prospective Guerrero Gold Belt located 180 kilometres southwest of Mexico City. The Company is based in Canada, with our Corporate Office located in Toronto, Ontario. Torex is currently the second-largest gold producer in Mexico.
The Company’s mining asset is the Morelos Complex, which includes the El Limón Guajes (“ELG”) Mining Complex, the Media Luna Project, a processing plant and related infrastructure. Commercial production from the ELG Mining Complex began in April 2016, and the Company’s Media Luna project, located 7 kilometers south of the ELG Complex, is currently under construction with commercial production expected to begin in 2025.
Torex’s key strategic objectives are to extend and optimize production from the ELG Mining Complex, de-risk and advance the Media Luna Project to commercial production, build on ESG excellence, and grow organically through ongoing exploration across the entire Morelos Property and through potential value accretive M&A.

The Job
The Mine Technical Services Manager is responsible for all aspects of Technical Services for the ELG and ML mine including surveying, production geology, mine planning, costing, hydrology and geotechnical. This work includes optimization and delivery of the various levels of mine planning, in conjunction with the mine operational team to safely produce the ore forecasted in the Life Of Mine plan. This role is also accountable for the design and completion of all near-mine exploration. The Mine Technical Services Department provides two essential services: 1) producing a short-term, medium-term and long-term plan with the operations team, and 2) providing the necessary real-time performance feedback to ensure targets are being met. The purpose of the role is to produce plans, with the operations team, that will deliver the targeted mining results.
Qualifications:
• 10+ years working in a similar position with progressive experience in managing a large Technical Services function
• Mining Engineering Degree or Geology Degree
• Masters Degree in Mine Planning - preferred
• Bilingual (Spanish and English)
Work Experience:
• Minimum of 12 to 15 years of relevant experience, in productive mining environments
• Experience in international companies with exposure to multicultural environments is required
• Experience in developing teams: recruiting team members, coaching and feedback, evaluation of performance, and delegation of tasks
• Experience in both open pit and underground operations, covering the following work areas:
• All planning aspects at the mine (i.e. short-term planning, forecasting)
• Preparing and tracking to Operations Budget physicals and participating in budget costing
• Exposed to geology processes and geological resources
• Experience going through a process of evaluation and stabilization of technical standards and processes
• Experience in waste and tailings storage facility management is required
• Experience in the design and construction of reports
• Experience managing and administrating external consultants and contractors
• Experience in gold mining is preferred
Knowledge & Skills:
• High standards regarding safety relative to industry practice
• Demonstrated planning and scheduling skills for geological processes
• Knowledge of Mine planning software (MineSight preferred)
• Familiar with Hexagon or a similar fleet management system
Responsibilities
Mine Plan Design
• Leads the development of monthly mine plan for both open pit and underground mines at ML and ELG
• Manages deviations from plan to actuals, makes adjustments to plan to ensure overall achievement of plan by the Mine Operations team
• Accountable for the development of the 3 and 12-month mine production forecast and manages production to forecast
• Act as a communicational bridge between the Mine Managers and Plant to ensure overall achievement of plans
• Manages the preparation of the physicals related to the mine plan, ensuring the most effective and efficient use of resources and accurate budget planning
• Manages the revision and validation of ore blending to maximize recovery and milling rates at the plant and ensures operations is executing the mine plan as designed
• Completes and manages the reconciliation process to identify root causes of deviations from mine plan
Development and Management of Production Model
• Accountable for the overall quality of the production models for both ML and ELG mines
• Accountable for the overall quality and accuracy of the conversion model for ML and ELG mines
• Ensures the Geology and Short-Term Planning teams have considered the right elements in making recommendations to adjust the production models
• Manages the conversion of resources to reserves
Development and Validation of Resource Model
• Accountable for the overall quality and accuracy of the resource model for ML and ELG mines
• Approves all adjustments to resource models, ensures Geology team has considered the right elements in making recommendation to adjust the resource models for the 2 mines
Systematic Revision of Operational Protocols and Standards
• Ensures protocols and standards are being reviewed and updated so that production models are efficient and effective
• Ensures the Geo-technical and Rock Mechanics teams have considered the right elements in making recommendations to adjust operational protocols and standards
• Approves all adjustments to operational protocols and standards and manages the communication of changes to operations mine management
• Stays current on industry changes and innovation to operational protocols and standards
Execution of the Drilling Program
• Manages the execution of the drilling program, ensuring resources used in the process produce the information required to update the resource and production model
Management of Water Balance
• Ensures water management program is designed in a manner that promotes the efficient consumption of water at site and manages the dynamic levels of water in the open pit and UG mines
• Ensures water systems are designed in the most effective and efficient manner, ensuring optimal water consumption
• Manages the preparation of hydrology models for the UG and Open Pit mines, ensuring the overall de-watering system design is effective and efficient
