Enterprise Credit (EC) is responsible for underwriting credit products for clients in Bank of America’s Global Corporate and Investment Bank (GCIB).  EC partners with teams across GBAM including Corporate and Investment Banking, Sales & Trading and Global Treasury Management to drive revenue growth while maintaining appropriate risk disciplines specific to GCIB’s corporate credit portfolio.  Integral to EC’s mission is to effectively manage and monitor the credit and market risks inherent in Large Corporate and the Financial Institutions portfolio. Additionally, oversight of local Mexico regulatory responsibilities related to credit portfolio.

Responsibilities:

As a Mexico Credit Team Lead, you will manage all credit aspects for Mexico portfolio, local regulatory responsibilities and lead & manage Credit team. Specifically this would include:

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the Global Banking & Markets product spectrum

  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the portfolio at the macro, industry and client level in order to assess risk and craft value added solutions that balance risk

  • Providing leadership and management of Mexico Credit team, comprising Vice Presidents , Assistant Vice Presidents and Analysts. This includes periodic Goals & Performance conversations, recruiting, mentoring, Diversity & Inclusion initiatives, among other activities.

  • Oversight of all fundamental credit analysis of Corporate and Financial Institutions clients (including assessment of key credit risks, Industry structure, business profile, financial/economic standing and projections)

  • Independently assess the credit worthiness, including due diligence sessions and client-facing meetings of prospective borrowers and/or trading counterparties and establish appropriate terms and conditions to mitigate risk;

  • Be accountable for active client monitoring with a regular review and update of the analysis of counterparties and existing risk ratings;

  • Structure transactions and negotiate credit documentation including credit agreements, amendments, derivative documentation;

  • Ensuring granularity of the portfolio with specific reference to targets for net country/credit capital, legally binding commitments, total exposure and asset quality.

  • Develop, maintain, and manage internal relationships with business partners including Corporate and Investment Bankers, Sales & Trading, Risk Management, Syndications, Operations, Finance and Legal;

  • Ensuring adherence to prevailing credit policy.

  • Engage in other credit related activities including strategic projects to support business goals, presentations to senior management and local regulatory responsibilities (including but not limited to liaise with Mexico regulators Banxico, and CNBV).

Required skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics or Engineering;

  • [15+] years of experience in Credit areas of Financial Institutions, preferable at major international Financial Institutions.

  • Experience in hiring, developing and retaining talent.

  • Sound product/technical and process knowledge across lending and derivative (FX, rates, commodities and equities) products.

  • Knowledge of Mexico specific industry sectors, structuring and documentation.

Desired technical skills:

  • Strong credit skills and risk judgment and ability to defend rigorously a fact-based point of view.

  • Strong Corporate Finance perspective and drives deal selection, screening and transaction management process.

  • Accomplished negotiator with strong foundation in relative value assessment and risk mitigation techniques.

  • Understanding of credit risk sensitivities in the portfolio and risk drivers of the exposures.

  • Ensuring that the portfolio and credit management process are at all times rated "satisfactory" by internal auditors, the Credit Review group and Mexico Regulators.

  • Strong risk manager able to assess complex situations, propose constructive solutions, and lead large and complex deals

  • Balances Risk Reward strategically – able to challenge effectively. Commercial mindset to support value added discussions with the clients and Relationship Managers
