Lilly Canada is currently looking for a National Engagement Advisor (NEA) to support its objectives in Oncology, specifically in the Breast Cancer space. The NEA is a marketing, customer facing, field-based role, reporting into the Oncology Commercial Lead, and requires close collaboration with wider cross-functional team both in the office and the field. This role will have high travel demands (up to 60%) across Canada to key centers and is field-based. Residents across Canada will be considered.

Strategic Intent: The strategic intent for the NEA role is to strengthen Lilly’s engagement and partnership with leading Canadian Thought Leaders and stakeholders in the breast cancer space, and cultivating relationships with emerging thought leaders. The NEAs main focus will be to develop and deliver solutions to meet Lilly’s commercial objectives in Oncology, create meaningful and differentiating experience for leading thought leaders and support efforts in improving patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the commercial team’s effort in building a national thought leader engagement strategy based on the overall brand strategy and commercial objectives.
  • Build and maintain a strong network and rapport with leading and emerging Thought Leaders in Canada in breast cancer or other relevant areas.
  • Identify Thought Leaders for potential partnerships, collaborations and projects, including but not limited to Advisory Boards/consultancies, speaker training, in collaboration with Medical and other cross-functional partners.,
  • Understands the relationship and influence between different Thought Leaders and the wider disease area community.
  • Identify opportunities to partner with thought leaders on relevant local, regional or national projects aligned to mutual goals and interests.
  • Identify opportunities to elevate the engagement of Canadian Thought Leaders in above-country projects in collaboration with Global or IBU (International Business Unit) teams.
  • Organize commercial presence at scientific meetings and conferences (Local, Regional, National and International), in close partnership with other commercial colleagues
  • Lead the commercial team’s efforts in optimizing Thought Leader engagement opportunities at scientific meetings and congresses, working closely with Medical.
  • Uses appropriate techniques to gain access to customers to position and support appropriate use of Lilly products.
  • Owns and maintains the brand endorsement tracker.
  • Is an active member of internal meetings, including but not limited to field team meetings, brand/core team meetings, business reviews with leadership.
  • Bring field insights, including but not limited to relevant congress proceedings and to provide education, discussion material, to inform tactics and strategy.
  • Understand the process of account-based management and Value Based Interactions (VBI) and confidently applies aspects of these models to their customer interactions.
  • Develops knowledge of all brand resources available; collaborates closely with the brand team to optimize use of these resources for better customer experience; share any customer feedback as needed.
  • Works closely with Medical to ensure the information needs of customers are met across the two disciplines (marketing and medical).
  • Partners with sales team in delivery of projects as needed.
  • Acquires and maintains expert knowledge of the disease state, product, competitors and appropriate patient.
  • Continuously monitors external factors (e.g. National, regional & local health care environment, stakeholder network, disease state development etc.) and incorporates relevant information into future Thought Leader interactions and business plans.
  • Follows internal and external ethical and legal guidelines and adheres to all company compliance policies; promotes on-label use of Lilly Brands

Qualifications

  • Experience in a field-based customer facing role required; Account Management experience in a pharmaceutical organization a plus.
  • Experience in the Oncology space a definite asset; experience in other specialty areas, with demonstrable experience liaising with complex external organizations may be considered in lieu of oncology experience.
  • Ability to navigate and collaborate in matrix cross-functional organizations to deliver solutions, ideally demonstrated through experience in marketing, medical or other head office-based roles strongly preferred.
  • Strong business acumen and results orientation with a high degree of initiative and follow through.
  • Strong ability to holistically penetrate structured and complex organizations and foster interpersonal relationships.
  • Superior ability to navigate and successfully implement complex projects through coordination of processes with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Strong lateral leadership skills and ability to engage cross-functional team members toward a common goal.
  • High level of creativity to translate customer insights into value-added programs and solutions that align the customers’ needs and Lilly's strategic interests in the therapeutic area.
  • Outstandingly positive work attitude, open to change and enjoys new challenges.
  • Bilingual (English and French) preferred.
  • Undergraduate/graduate Degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Business Administration, Marketing or other relevant fields.

Additional Information
