Operations Support Lead

As the Operations Support Lead at Equinix, you will play a crucial role in supporting our xScale site teams worldwide. Your responsibilities will encompass maintenance, general operations, and facilitating the transition of construction projects to operations.

With a strong emphasis on customer interaction, collaboration between construction teams and project managers, and support for our Global Ops Engineering (GOE) and local Service Enablement teams, you will ensure seamless integration and operational excellence.

Additionally, you will provide invaluable support to local teams and country organizations in onboarding the xScale Business Model. This involves creating and sharing educational materials across EMEA, guiding the necessary interlock between Operations and Construction, and overseeing the post-handover management of live sites and customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as the primary liaison for xScale Ops among clients, construction teams, project managers, and GOE teams to ensure smooth integration and transition of construction projects to operations. This includes understanding the construction stage of projects, reporting to internal and external stakeholders, and facilitating a seamless transition from construction to operations.
  • Oversee the implementation of operational standards and best practices for xScale data center operations, identifying and addressing any gaps found as a result of the xScale Business Model & Product.
  • Monitor activities related to compliance, environmental safety, and operational continuity, ensuring adherence to industry standards and best practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using GOE tools for data analysis and decision-making.
  • Provide assistance and support to local teams in identifying and addressing any gaps that impact our obligations towards investors or customers.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in the functioning and workings of a data center, including familiarity with tools and systems used to support operations (e.g., monitoring systems, ticketing platforms, asset management software).
  • Proven track record of teamwork, effective communication with various stakeholders, and successful management of transition projects.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in management and data analysis tools such as: Maximo.
  • General understanding of industry standards, compliance requirements, and best practices in safety and environmental protection.
  • Proficiency in Spanish to support our deployments in Spain and Mexico.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to identify, evaluate, and mitigate operational and financial risks related to SLA non-compliance.
  • Proficiency in strategic reporting and communication, including the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely reports to investors and internal stakeholders.
  • Availability for occasional travel to different countries and flexibility to respond to operational emergencies if required.
