Job Purpose

As Customs Brokerage Compliance Analyst, you’ll play a vital part in our success, you’ll proactively identify issues, mitigating them and achieve best-in-class service to our clients.

Our Centralised team of experts ensure the customs activities are operated with compliance and efficiency in mind.

Dedicated Compliance Management team closely monitors not only own customs activity but the ever-changing legislation.

This role supports the import/exports and logistics operations of client accounts by coordinating file processing at customs and expediting their shipments from start to finish; by providing instructions to customs brokers according to the execution methodology, prepare and support metrics and reports, audit pedimentos, control trade records, KPIs completion, follow up of the operations and attend to meetings with all involved areas.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect all trade content sources (i.e. Federal Official Gazette, Customs Bulletin, etc.) to assess, analyse and distribute all the foreign trade and customs regulations and other related regulatory changes that could affect the Maersk client’s customs operations.
  • Provide advice on foreign trade and customs matters.
  • Execution of internal audits to foreign trade transactions or customs procedures to ensure legal compliance, managing domestic and international foreign trade and customs regulations.
  • Prepare quality and compliance assessments, risk diagnostics and control points designed for import and export compliance procedures such as customs regimes, free trade agreements, customs valuation, voluntary disclosures and appeals, legal procedures, among others.
  • Facilitate internal training for customs related topics.
  • Get the goods through customs promptly and efficiently.
  • Identify risk proactively and share solutions.
  • Identify opportunity areas and activate actions as needed.
  • SOP & IOPs mapping and documentation of new customers/processes. Obtain customer validation/approval for daily operation process. Update documents as needed.
  • Maintain daily operation communication with internal and external customers, including receival of required details, validation and acceptance (Pre-entry & Entry process).
  • Inform and advise customer on the formalities of the movement of goods (legal provisions, duty payment scenarios, guarantees, etc.). Collect all the documents necessary to carry out the operations properly.
  • Work with vendors based on KPIs performance, to identify Root Cause Analysis and Actions to improve vendor performance.
  • Identify and standardize law changes impacting current operations.

We are looking for

  • BA in Customs, International Trade, Logistics, Logistics/Transportation Engineering, international Relationships, Business Administration, International Commerce, International relations.
  • +3 years of experience in similar positions
  • English- Capable to have business conversations and perform presentations.
  • Intermediate/Advanced Excel (graphics, dynamic tables, formulas).
  • Advanced presentation skills.
  • Communication- Ability to perform presentations and to explain complex processes to different auditoriums.
  • Excellent Written and Verbal skills with people at all levels across the organisation.
  • Microsoft tools: Outlook, Teams, One drive
  • Operational savvy: Custom process for Import/Export (Ocean, Air, Xborder), terminal processes, general supply chain coordination.
  • UVA, Regla Octava, Prosec, Glosa, CO, IMMEX knowledge.
