We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of

Product Control Head

Role purpose:

We are looking for a talented individual to lead the Product Control Valuation team regarding Global Banking & Markets Valuation and P&L production. This role will report to the Product Control Director. The role will have extensive liaison and communication at all levels within the Finance team. The role will contribute to improving and automating processes, supporting/managing teams across areas. Owning the books and records of HSBC.

Main activities: 

  • Key contributor of HSBC Valuation Policy
  • Participate in the implementation and automation of processes of FRTB within HSBC Product Control department.
  • Investigate any collateral/MTM disputes with external counterparties.
  • Support the Core PC team when there is a PL dispute related to valuation.
  • Ensure our local Models are well documented, periodically reviewed by IMR team (Independent Model Review) and accurately listed in MIS (HSBC Canada Model repository).
  • Responsible for the leadership of the HSBC Product Control Team.
  • Managing the daily End of Day curve process which is needed to derive the marked to market of some asset classes.
  • Be the focal point for all valuation questions from internal/external stakeholders (PwC, audit, NPDD etc…)
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand.
  • Join the PC Valuation team which is part of the broader HSBC Americas Product Control function constituted of about 14 individuals.
  • Ensure compliance operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; and policies; and optimize relations with regulators by addressing aby issues. 

Solicitud

Experience:            

  • Proven experience in a leadership role and staff management.
  • Proven experience of establishing/managing/working with offshore engagements.
  • Good track record of successful project management and implementation of complex programmes or projects.
  • Excellent working knowledge of derivatives valuation methodologies.
  • Extensive experience of risk management and mitigation.
  • Strong knowledge/awareness of Group P&L and Balance Reporting.
  • Wide knowledge of Financial Control activities and deliverables.

Skills:       

  • Strong knowledge of valuation techniques ed to derive the market value for FX and Fixed Income Asset Classes.
  • Strong knowledge of Fair Value applicable to the asset classes (IPV, Bid-Offer, Illiquidity, xVA etc…)
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to liaise with senior management, a self-motivator, able to e good judgment and exercise independent decision-making ability while contributing to a team environment. 
  • Good organizational skills, able to independently prioritize and coordinate reporting requirements/deadlines. 
  • Familiarity and experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Access) including advanced spreadsheet and VBA skills. 
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg and other market data sources is required. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a quantitative finance discipline preferred (such as Economics, Maths, Statistics etc…)
