Purpose of the position

The appointed Project Director will play a pivotal role in spearheading the expansion and evolution of this significant and impactful initiative. Tasked with a range of critical responsibilities, the Project Director will serve as the primary driver behind the project’s progression. These responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute and assist in leading the formulation of the Center’s strategy, including programming, innovation, and infrastructure.
  • Establish and develop strategic relationships and drive collaboration with key stakeholders including academic researchers and institutions, all levels of government, industry, cooperatives, civil society organizations, and the community.
  • Lead the development, implementation, promotion, and scaling of the Center’s strategic imperatives.
  • Ensure effective and efficient delivery of programming and initiatives to ensure the targets set about value and impact are met.
  • Lead, develop, and empower the applied aquaculture innovation ecosystem by raising awareness, outreach, inspiring action, and executing an inclusive and community-focused vision.
  • Identify and promote emerging aquaculture technologies, models, and ideas, as well as needs in the regional aquaculture sector to enhance the delivery of the Center’s core purpose.
  • Efficiently and effectively manage and utilize financial resources to maximize outputs and ensure the Center’s outcomes.
  • Reporting directly to the Vice President of the firm

Requirements and competencies to work with us

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or similar backgrounds

Experience

  • 5-10 years experience working in a leadership position.
  • Experienced in planning projects, executing tasks, meeting deadlines, and managing the pace of long-term projects.
  • Having worked within the NGO/Third sector in Mexico.

Knowledge and skills

  • Passion for the ocean and climate and capacity for action that translates to successful team results.
  • Highly organized and comfortable leading people and large initiatives.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to see, link, and make connections.
  • The ability to think big to stretch the potential of the Center to create important breakthroughs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English for engagement, public speaking, running meetings, and managing external relationships.
  • Work hands-on and execute when required and strategically when needed as well.
