Job Description

  • Project planning: Collaborating with cross-functional teams to define project scope, objectives, and timelines. Developing project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Manufacturing process design: Analyzing product designs and specifications to determine the most efficient manufacturing processes. Developing and improving manufacturing methods and procedures.
  • Resource allocation: Identifying and allocating the necessary resources, including equipment, materials, and personnel, to support project execution.
  • Risk assessment and mitigation: Identifying potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them. Monitoring project progress and implementing corrective actions when necessary.
  • Quality control: Establishing quality control measures and ensuring adherence to quality standards throughout the manufacturing process. Conducting inspections and implementing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Continuous improvement: Identifying opportunities for process optimization, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements. Implementing lean manufacturing principles and techniques.
  • Project coordination: Coordinating activities among various departments, such as design, procurement, production, and logistics, to ensure smooth project execution and timely delivery.
  • Documentation and reporting: Maintaining accurate project documentation, including manufacturing specifications, work instructions, and project reports. Providing regular project updates to stakeholders.
  • Supplier management: Collaborating with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of materials and components. Conducting supplier evaluations and managing relationships to optimize the supply chain.
  • Team leadership: Leading and motivating project teams, providing guidance and support throughout the project lifecycle. Facilitating effective communication and resolving conflicts.

Qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in a field related to manufacturing, such as industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering. 
  • Experience: 3 to 5 years previous experience in a automotive environment, preferably in a project engineering or related role, is often required. Experience with project management, process optimization, and quality control is highly valuable.
  • English intermediate (B2 level).
  • Technical skills: Proficiency in manufacturing processes and techniques, including process design, production planning, and quality control. 
  • Industry knowledge: Familiarity with the specific industry and manufacturing processes relevant to the organization. Knowledge of relevant regulations, standards, and best practices is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is highly beneficial.
  • Project management: Strong project management skills, including the ability to develop project plans, manage resources, and track progress. Knowledge of project management methodologies, such as Agile or Six Sigma, is advantageous.
  • Problem-solving abilities: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve manufacturing issues. The ability to analyze data, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions is crucial.
  • Communication and teamwork: Effective communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. The ability to clearly convey technical information to non-technical personnel is important. Strong teamwork and leadership skills are also desired to coordinate project activities and motivate team members.
  • Certifications: Possessing certifications related to project management (e.g., Project Management Professional - PMP) or lean manufacturing (e.g., Six Sigma Green Belt) can enhance the qualifications of a Project Manufacturing Engineer.
  • Project coordination: The Project Manufacturing Engineer serves as a central point of contact and coordination between different departments and teams involved in the project. They collaborate with design engineers, procurement specialists, production managers, quality assurance teams, and logistics personnel to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Cost management: Project Manufacturing Engineers are responsible for managing project budgets and optimizing costs. They work closely with the finance department to track expenses, analyze cost drivers, and implement cost-saving measures without compromising quality or project objectives.
  • Supplier and vendor management: The Project Manufacturing Engineer works with suppliers and vendors to ensure the timely delivery of materials and components required for the project. They evaluate supplier capabilities, negotiate contracts, manage relationships, and address any supply chain issues that may arise during the project.
  • Continuous improvement: Project Manufacturing Engineers are constantly seeking opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains. They analyze production data, identify bottlenecks, and implement lean manufacturing principles and methodologies to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and streamline processes. They actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as Kaizen events or Six Sigma projects, to drive operational excellence.
  • Regulatory compliance: Depending on the industry and product requirements, Project Manufacturing Engineers ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards and certifications. They stay updated on industry regulations, such as ISO standards or specific industry-specific guidelines and ensure that manufacturing processes and outputs meet the necessary compliance requirements.
  • Technology implementation: Project Manufacturing Engineers stay abreast of advancements in manufacturing technologies and tools. They evaluate and recommend the implementation of new technologies, such as automation, robotics, or digital manufacturing solutions, to enhance productivity, improve quality, and optimize manufacturing processes.
