Job Description:

In your day-to-day as a Senior Backend Engineer - Java, you will:

• Be a strong advocate for technical standards, engineering best practices, and quality across PayPal, Inc.

• Contributes to engineering efforts on extensive project features, modules, and services.

• Support end-to-end ownership of software components' design, implementation, and operational excellence.

• Influence and drive timely, accurate, and complete projects through engagement and participation at the team level.

• Be a teammate who looks ahead and anticipates the consequences of implementation choices on future development.

What do you need to bring as a Senior Backend Engineer - Java:

• 5+ years of experience with Java or equivalent high-level programming language.

• Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL data stores, caching solutions (Redis, ElastiCache, Hazelcast), and messaging/queuing protocols/systems such as SQS/Kafka/RabbitMQ/Pulsar

• Ability to lead projects and mentor all levels of engineering staff, along with managing relationships with Product, Engineering Operations and non-technical business and support teams.

• Expert with distributed services and backend systems.

• Expertise with building services on public cloud – AWS, GCP, Azure.

• Experience in managing infrastructure as code using Terraform.

• Experience working with fault-tolerant and scalable distributed services and systems.

• Have a test-driven mindset.

Language requirement:

• Proficient (B2: Upper-Intermediate) in both written and spoken English.
