Job Description


Manages all costing matters and related aspects of Avery Dennison Smartrac’s (ADS) financial processes including Operational support of our LatAm region to key internal customers. Will prepare and supervise costing activities to create visibility into operational strategy and performance with the goal of driving speed, quality, and cost efficiency. Acts as a partner for the plant leadership team and reports to the Finance Manager. Develops integrated expense analysis, projections, and reports to identify trends and developments. Maintains all supporting documentation. Also, assists with external review/audit process and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance procedures. Will manage professional staff.

  • Control and update of standard costs per product and per customer.
  • Actively drive and collaborate in month-closing, financial controls, compliance, forecasting, budgeting process, and project improvements.
  • Oversee the efficient operation and cost-effectiveness of operating systems and programs.
  • Monitor and analyze material variances and purchase price variances and determine improvements.
  • Establish clear, consistent reporting and operating processes - ensuring accurate and timely data availability and insightful, thorough analysis. 
  • Act as a business partner to demonstrate insight into financial analysis techniques, tools, and concepts to provide practical actions to drive results.
  • Identify performance issues within the business and risks and opportunities in the current plan or forecast.
  • Formulate recommendations and implement policies or plans to ensure or increase the organization’s profitability.
  • Tight expense control, compare actual vs AOP and Forecast.
  • Identify variations and make corrective actions for those affecting the productivity forecast.
  • Explain variations and include the expense impact in the forecast for those identified as recurring.
  • Prepare presentations for the monthly results review with the leadership team.
  • Coordinate the annual saving projects, evaluate the saving projects identified by management and track the savings.
  • Demonstrate and inspire integrity. Anticipate questions, issues and challenges from management, external audit, etc. Avoid financial surprises. Anticipate questions and challenges. Stay current with requirements. Keep management informed of any issues or gaps.
  • Focus on complex planning issues around the Annual Operating Plan. Provide recommendations to management.
  • Assist in the preparation of the AFE (Authorization for Expenditure) with other functions. Ensure the final analysis is complete and accurate.
  • Be a team leader or participant in cross-functional process improvement projects. Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Act in line with and adapt the Corporation’s Code of Business Ethics and Values.
  • Positively lead and influence team members to partner together to achieve individual and business goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Finance or related field.
  • MBA is a plus
  • 5+ years of costing or finance related experience.
  • Excellent math and analytical skills. 
  • Understanding of applicable computer systems, such as Oracle, Microsoft Office, Google and function specific software.
  • Excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
  • Self-motivated, results oriented and assertive individual
