Senior Java Software Developer

We are looking for a strong Data Science Engineer with good analytical skills who has the ability to work in an agile environment and work with cross-functional teams responsible for product design, integration and testing.

As part of the Oracle Retail Science R&D group, you will be working with data scientists, Software Developers and QA team to build data driven applications that solve retail business problems. Our team develops new ways to help retailers forecast sales, set prices, plan assortments and categories, and optimize their supply chain execution. Responsibilities

The Data Science Engineer is responsible for all aspects of front-end and analytics development including UI development of web applications, Web Services design/development, design and implementation of large-scale data mining and analytics processes, and implementing analytics algorithms in Java/Python.

1. Develop Java and JS code for web applications UI
2. Design and develop RESTful Web Services
3. Design and implement end-to-end flow for executing large-scale data mining and analytics processes using platforms like Spark and Kafka
4. Work with Data Scientists to understand the business problems and the analytics solutions and implement different algorithms in Java/Python
5. Identify & address application issues that affect application integrity
6. Ensure that the UI design fulfills functional & technical requirements, including design-for-performance
7. Analyze and ensure efficient transition of all technical design documents
8. Work effectively with Tech leads, Scientist and Data Science Developers to create and maintain the overall data architecture, priorities and success measures for the enterprise
9. Review the deliverables throughout development to ensure quality & traceability to requirements and adherence to all quality management plans & standards

Qualifications

1.   Strong software development experience
2. Strong knowledge and experience in object-oriented programming, Java, Python, JavaScript and HTML.
3. Strong knowledge and experience in using platforms for parallel processing and job streaming (like Spark and Kafka).
4. Strong knowledge and experience in design and development of RESTful Web Services
5. Experience in developing responsive web applications
6. Experience with developing unit tests
7. Experience with Linux/Unix operating system
8. Experience with Java frameworks like Spring
9. Knowledge of relational databases
10. knowledge of and ability to write SQL queries
11. Good analytical skills and understanding of basics concepts in data science
12. Experience working on analytic/data science projects like optimization and data mining is a plus
13. Able to balance and prioritize multiple concurrent projects effectively.
14. Eager to learn and work in an agile environment

17. Able to work with cross-functional teams responsible for product design, integration and testing
18. Bachelor's or Masters degree in Computer Science or equivalent years of experience in related field.
19. 5+ years in a developing, modeling, and deploying enterprise solutions, Retail/SCM experience preferred
