About this role
Lead a team of Health and Safety to effectively support the operation meet business targets without fatalities, injuries or illness.
In this role you will
Here is a snapshot of what your day-to-day will look like:
  • Lead, engage and develop a team of H&S professionals
  • Coach and influence operational leaders
  • Drive standardization, simplification and alignment
  • Lead implementation of Newmont initiatives
  • Translation and communication of business H&S requirements; practical application; track and monitor of progress
  • Ensure effective and consistent identification and management of regional risks
  • Develop and drive site strategic objectives
  • Manage the site H&S budget including cost reporting
  • Identify site trends and emerging issues to implement timely strategic plans
  • H&S Governance and Assurance
  • Partner with Regional and Global HS Leaders to ensure programs and initiatives are aligned and effective
  • Escalate and inform H&S matters to site SLT and Regional HS team to enable effective response and rapid replication

The above responsibilities are the main responsibilities of the position. The position also develops other activities that are not included in this document and the immediate supervisor is responsible for informing such activities.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Diploma in Business Management or equivalent.
  • Planning and Resource Management qualifications.

Experience
  • Minimum 8 -10 years' Health and Safety industry experience, experienced leader in H&S including experience in areas such as Surface and Underground Mining and Process Plant Operations. Demonstrated success in working collaboratively in multi-cultural teams in expatriate settings.
  • Tertiary qualified in health, safety, engineering or human factors
  • HS leader or passionate operational leader with history of strong performance
  • Operational experience in Mining, Oil & Gas or Heavy Industry
  • Experience leading team of team of technical and SMEs
  • Advanced communication and influencing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to manage sustainable cultural change
  • Demonstrated ability to take a system view and identify emerging H&S risks

Skills and Abilities
  • Proficient in English and Spanish .
  • Advanced interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization (interacting with diverse functional and cultural backgrounds).
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Strong analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Driver's License.

Working Conditions and Location
Where you will be located!
The position is in country/continuous, located in Peñasquito Mazapil, Zacatecas Mexico. The mine is a remote site located in a warm, semi-dessert climate.
Accommodation is in a camp/village environment near the workplace.
The rotational roster will be 4 days on site 3 off x 5 days on site 2 off.
The position may be required to travel to domestic and international sites.
