Sr Software Engineer

What's the role?

The Here New Initiatives team delivers cutting edge software applications and products, building products atop Here’s high-definition maps to deliver value to our customers. We design and build products that provide real-time data, built on streaming architectures and using the latest tools and practices, while continuously learning and striving to do better.

As a Senior Engineer on the team, you will play a key role on a small engineering team delivering a new full-stack B2B product and provide technical leadership to junior members of the team.  Specifically:

• Build sophisticated fault-tolerant distributed services in scala and full-functioned frontend applications in angular
• Participate in all states of the development lifecycle
• Continuously refine our delivery process to speed solutions to our customers
• Join a cooperative, creative, nimble team of highly motivated engineers
• Recommend and adopt the latest technologies, tools, methods, and processes, introducing the rest of us to tomorrow’s best solutions
• Build your skills as an engineer, growing to lead projects that ore instrumental to the team’s and company’s success
• Mentor and guide other engineers
• Provide technical design for various features and projects

Who are you?

• Training: Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent experience
• Programming chops: Excellent coding skills, with the drive to learn and apply new technologies
• Build, deploy, deliver, repeat: Experience with cloud-based infrastructure, such as AWS and docker; 
• Comfortable with implementing CI/CD
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Extras

Some or all of the following would be pretty sweet, if you brought them to the table:

• Spark, Flink, Kafka, or other high-volume, low-latency technologies
• Frontend-friendly: JavaScript, typescript, angular, react, CSS…
• Command line prowess; adept at writing command line scripts; customized dev environments
