Description & Requirements

About the Role

This position will conduct software testing for globally developed automotive products.

It will drive strategic direction for global testing and develop specific project test strategy.

The position will work closely with Program Management and Engineering to ensure proper test coverage in the most efficient manner possible, including product changes or product improvements

Get involved with the Development team in customer issues reproduction, or reviews or product development.

Work with Product Development team as part of the Development process, with SW team.
What You Will Do

  • Look for gaps in test cases, automation and testing processes and work on filling them.
  • Create metrics to improve the testing result in customer scope.
  • Benchmarking latest technologies, processes, and test technics to implement in the area
  • Provide technical coaching to lower grades and fill the gaps in their training.
  • Leads and performs software validation for projects or teams on audio electronics, including planning and resources allocation.
  • Support or implement global testing initiatives.
  • Builds, design and maintains automated test racks or benches for amplifier testing
  • Performs setup of modules/wiring and maintains test benches appropriately.
  • Support and collaboration with worldwide test groups
  • Identifies software issues and properly documenting into the issue tracking system with supporting log files and data.
  • Performs manual and automated software testing. Performs session-based exploratory testing.
  • Records, processes, and analyzes data with PC based tools and test instrumentation for product improvement.
  • Creates automated test scripts using common scripting languages
  • Document testing and create test reports. Follow and ensure that CMMI/SPICE guidelines are implemented for creating and maintaining test documentation.
  • Prepare, maintain and support any audit activity for applicable standards.
  • Perform and plan regression and exploratory test as needed, and perform a standard validation for customer deliveries
  • Provide technical support for the resolution of various customer and interdepartmental issues as needed.
  • Track and register test equipment, Devices Under Test or any asset that is in Harman’s Inventory
  • Ensure that Test equipment used is calibrated
  • Create training for knowledge transfer to new engineers, validation teams or external groups.
  • Apply specifications, user guides, use cases, comparable products, and previous known bugs to create and maintain test plans, test designs, and test cases
  • Interfaces with Program Management, Engineering, Sales, and customers to develop and execute system-level software testing for automotive products
  • Develops test strategies and plans in accordance with business and product requirements
  • Coordinates with different departments domestically and internationally. Participates in requirements reviews, design reviews, and other activities in the framework of an Agile/Scrum development process.
  • Learning and adopting new and relevant state of the art technologies for automotive infotainment, consumer electronics, embedded systems, software testing, and test tools.
  • Have strong knowledge in all Product Lifecycle stages, sources, deliverables, and responsibilities for each stage.
  • Weekend work may be required sometimes to ensure program commitments are met.
  • Know and comply Automotive / management & Costumer requirements according skill matrix.
  • Mandatories have knowledge of DFMEAS.

  • 5+ years in a product engineering or Test Engineering role in an embedded environment, preferably in automotive infotainment or consumer electronics.
  • 4-5 years in a customer-facing role.
  • 4-5 years creating test plans and test cases.
  • 4-5 years creating automation scripts.
  • Demonstrated experience functioning in a highly collaborative, demanding, and fast-paced environment.
  • Working knowledge of functional and non-functional software testing, the software test life cycle, and various test design methodologies (function, performance, stress, load, risk-based, scenario, etc.,).
  • Working knowledge of shell scripting.
  • Working knowledge of multiple scripting languages (Perl, Python, etc.,).
  • Vehicle networking experience (CAN (Controller Area Network), MOST).
  • Software testing training (SQE, ISTQB, etc.,).
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solver capable of creating and reproducing software bugs.
  • Dedicated performer with the ability to advocate appropriately for product quality.
  • Relentless learner with a dedication to learn modern technologies and test methods.
  • Capable project management and time management skills.
  • Bug tracking tools (Bugzilla, JIRA etc.,).
  • Configuration Management tools (Perforce, GIT etc.,).
