Technical Writer - Commercial Refrigeration

Looking for a motivated, organized Technical Writer! All Hussmann equipment sold for use in the United States requires certification (UL, FDA, NSF). Written technical documentation must be submitted to attain certification. Position will produce and maintain clear and accurate documentation specific to and supporting company products according to timely and accurate data received and communicate technical information to various audiences as needed. The audiences include, but are not limited to, certifying agencies, design and engineering groups, marketing and sales, distributors and branches, installation contractors, architects, service personnel and customers. •

Research, collect, organize and verify information from company Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) for publication of product technical documentation using resources available (i.e. CAD, PDF drawing files, cross- section drawings and bills of material.) Revise and update documents as needed or when product design changes.••

Develop text, photographs, illustrations, 2D/3D CADD blocks, concept drawings, presentations, and support documents for Technical Publications, Marketing, Sales, and Support Service as requested.••

Determine document design and layout consistent with established brand standards. Select or generate photographs, drawings, diagrams, and charts that increase users' understanding. Establish and maintain a good working rapport with design engineers, code liaison, quality, product managers, lab personnel, model shop services and various groups throughout the company and customer's representatives.••

Provide and coordinate 2D/3D technical data, specifications, documents, and files for Bridgeton, Monterrey, Chino, and Suwannee factories and to webmaster for internet and mobile apps.••

Maintain electronic archive of source files and completed documents. Maintain history file and documentation to support legal issues.••

Develop multimedia content--including but not limited to renderings, animations, and videos--for marketing, sales, and technical publications; architectural engineering, design, and planning; and customer support.••

Responsibilities: •

Requirements:
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years prior experience in technical writing, editing, illustration, and CADD in a PLM engineering environment.•

  • Highschool diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.•

  • 2 years' experience with each of the following: Quark Xpress; Adobe Creative Production Suite or equivalent; 2D/3D CADD, preferably Solid Edge, AutoCAD, Revit, and 3DS Max; Canvas; Microsoft Office.••

  • Experience with animation, rendering, and import/export compatibility by aforementioned applications.••

  • Requires experience with photography/videography in product marketing and technical publications, including storyboarding, scripting, editing, and formatting.••

  • Requires excellent English grammar. Must be computer literate, including file translations and formats.••

  • Must understand assembly and installation procedures; be able to read complex orthographic projections, sheet metal, engineering and mechanical drawings; and understand basic wiring schematics.••

  • Experience with print reproduction (b/w and CMYK) preferred.••
