About our Global Design Organization as Content Designer

Our work focuses on a large portfolio of end-to-end transformational experiences and products as we work together to deliver on the promise of making it easy to do business with Thomson Reuters and to use Thomson Reuters products.

About the work

Are you passionate about delivering the best experiences to customers? Do you know how to detangle customer journeys, realign them in a way that makes sense and advocate for customer and user experiences that support great content?

Our UX Content Design team crafts clear, consistent, succinct language for Thomson Reuters’ customer journey and product experiences. This is a highly collaborative team that partners closely with many groups across the organization to help bring the right UX content experience to our users – at the right time.

About the Role

As a Lead UX Content Designer withing Thomson Reuters’ new Global Design organization you will work within the UX Content team to partner with UX design, research, product, development and additional peers to drive useful, usable, and compelling UX content experiences for a selected area of focus across digital commerce, customer success, and cloud-based products/mobile apps for complex audiences in the Tax, Accounting and Legal spaces.

Interested candidates must be able to:

  • Work effectively with a distributed team across several time zones
  • Share a passion for words and the positive impact they can have in any internal or customer-facing output across individual contributor and leadership levels
  • Think critically—not just about the right words for an experience, but about the right experience for words – and ask partners the right questions to find both
  • Use previous experience, a fresh eye, and content design principles to create the best outcomes for our customers:
    • Collaborate with UX content designers and researchers to attain the best outcome for all UX sprints, including providing and accepting constructive, considered insights
    • Work with product and dev partners toward the best possible outcomes for our customers, our users and our business – challenge teams to lean into better UX, commit to outcomes
  • Help educate the organization about the importance of UX content-/design-/research-thinking habits and the impact of cross-team engagement on user experience outcome
  • Help build foundational processes, standards, metrics definition, and engagement protocols that facilitate top-value partnerships across UX, product, and development teams
  • Be committed to goals, objectives and key results set for yourself, your team, organization, and Thomson Reuters as a whole
  • Lead and/or participate in:
    • Contributing UX content excellence to the organization’s larger design system
    • Defining voice & tone elements for both disparate and connected experiences
    • Influencing partner teams regarding content best practices
    • Helping team members and partners align to processes around road mapping, asset storage, design system and work management tools
    • Identifying gaps, and their solutions, within and across team processes
    • Leading empathy/content/feature mapping and other discovery/sprint planning exercises in partnership with UX design and research
  • Participates in user experience (UX) project work, typically up to moderate complexity.
  • Creates, evaluates and modifies prototypes to support evolving software application development.
  • May develop user profiles, with emphasis on human error control, display issues, visual interaction, physical manipulation, and task and objective analyses.
  • May assist in developing design concept and implementation, providing input on user design considerations.
  • Develops and applies software design/usability processes in the investigation of technical problems.
  • May produce specifications describing user requirements and internal structures for assigned product in development.

Required Skills & background:

Education:

Masters or bachelor’s degree in writing, creative, marketing, technology, or related field

  • 10+ years progressive professional experience including 3-5 combined years of digital content writing and/or UX content design experience
  • Experience coaching/overseeing team members’ work outputs and weighing in as the final say in collaborative content review and critique sessions
  • Experience evangelizing UX content writing/design within and across a complex organization to build peer and leadership advocacy
  • Able to be a right hand to UX Content leadership without taking on personnel management
  • Able to prepare work product for and to lead cross-content/cross-UX ideation workshops and training sessions
  • Engaged approach to simplifying complex ideas into narrative-driven outcomes and influence
  • Experience creating ideas for and presenting same in a compelling manner to VP-level and leadership teams related to progress, path forward, process improvements, etc.
  • Understand the importance of primary and secondary research as well as both qualitative and quantitative inputs on approach to language, tone, and content
  • Ability to partner with UX research on content-related research and insights
  • Desire to push the envelope on the status quo, using passion, influence, and information to include internal partners impacted by that push
  • Expert understanding of agile UX approach to creative outputs and partnership with design, research, product, and development partners
  • Understanding and oversight of UX content KPIs/success metrics; exposure to means/methods of measuring UX content success
  • Experience with work management and workflow platforms, design/writing collaboration tools (high- and/or low-fidelity), Microsoft office applications, and document/chat/video collaboration tools to include Jira, Azure DevOps, Abstract, Sketch, Figma, Miro, Teams, Powerpoint, excel, and more
  • Experience with product usage analytics tools such as Pendo, AEM, Google Analytics, etc.
  • Exposure to AOTA or WCAG 2.1 AA/AAA accessibility guidelines as they relate to UX content
