Associate Project Accountant, LAC, Finance

Location: Search open for: Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia, Dominican Republic or Venezuela.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Working as part of the Finance team, the Associate Project Accountant will support the Global Operations Finance (GOF) team in its day-to-day business needs. This position will provide support for the accurate and timely recording of financial transactions including project initiations, grant management, billing, payments, and cash management.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist GOF Team Member in monthly and annual closing process, ensuring that deadlines are met as necessary.
  • Provide assistance with compiling LAC regional information and providing support to Finance and Global Health team.
  • Initiating new project set-up, project maintenance and various data entry in forms, templates, and systems.
  • Processing wires, payments, QuickBooks exports, review of documentation, and reconciliations to ensure compliance.
  • Assist with audit and grant compliance as necessary.
  • Oversee the filing for the department, electronically and paper.
  • Promotes and fosters a culture of compliance and ethics throughout Project HOPE. As appropriate to the position, maintains a clear understanding of and adheres to Project HOPE and donor compliance and ethics standards.
  • Work with the highest level of integrity.
  • Participate in the selection processes for vacancies in his/her area, as well as in processes in related areas by reviewing applicants for the position, pre-selecting profiles and participating in technical interviews in order to ensure the selection of the right people for the organization.
  • Work in a liaison, communicative and cooperative manner with the regional team, as well as with the liaisons at the Head Quarters.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A.S. in Accounting or combined equivalent education and years of experience required.
  • B.A. preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in general ledger, financial accounting, not-for-profit or government award funding, preferred.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English with the ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally, preferred.
  • Must have intermediate level knowledge of Excel (pivot table, look-up),
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, organize and set priorities, meet deadlines, handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively, both written and oral, with staff and stakeholders.

Work environment :

• Typical office environment with exposure to a minimal noise level.

• Emergency deployments may be in resource-deprived environments with austere living conditions.

• Travel for extended periods may be by air and/or other modes of transportation.

• While international travel is not a regular part of every job, programmatic needs may require it

intermittently.

• Project HOPE employees may be required to travel or work in countries where working conditions are classified as “hardship.”
