How will you make an impact in this role?

ICS - Strategic Planning - BI & Data Governance. As Jr. Data Scientist in Amex you will work alongside our partners in the planning, sales and operations teams in order to improve, manage and feed key BI products. You will leverage cutting edge technology to build ETL’s and data products to the highest standard which in turn will help management make better decisions.

Responsibilities:

• Create strategies to maintain competitiveness through tools and technology
• Ideate and contribute to innovations to help solve business problems
• Data integration to business – Front-end development
• Analyze large amounts of data to derive business insights and create innovative solutions
• Ensuring data quality, accuracy, and completeness
• Data Source Identification: Research and identify relevant data sources both within the organization (e.g., databases, data warehouses, APIs) and external sources (e.g., market data providers, industry reports) to collect the required data. Evaluate the suitability and reliability of each data source
• Data Extraction, Transformation and Integration (ETL): Extract data from various sources and transform it into a standardized format suitable for integration. Consolidate data from multiple sources into a centralized system or data warehouse.
• Data Governance: Develop and implement data governance practices to ensure data quality, integrity, and security throughout the data collection and integration processes. Define data standards, naming conventions, and data access controls to maintain data consistency and protect sensitive information.
• Data Validation and Quality Assurance: Perform data validation and quality checks to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the integrated data. Identify and resolve data anomalies, inconsistencies, or missing values. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address data quality issues.
• Data Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of the data collection and integration processes, including data source documentation, data flow diagrams, and data mapping. Document data transformations, business rules, and any assumptions made during the integration process.

Minimum Qualifications

Proven analytical and programing skills, including ability to consolidate and transform large amounts of data from different sources into insights and executive BI Solutions and reports:

• Python Intermediate – Advanced
• Pyspark Intermediate
• Knowledge on Google Cloud Computing (Big Query)
• Passion, energy, personal accountability, and a desire to learn and grow as a leader.
• High level of integrity when handing confidential information.
• Demonstrated ability to learn quickly with a willingness to continuously improve.
• Active listening skills, summarization skills and lateral thinking to uncover and react to emerging opportunities.
• Ability to work well under pressure, adapt to changing circumstances, and make decisions quickly and effectively.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to learn quickly and work independently
• Excellent problem formulation and solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

Nice to have:

• Advance knowledge in Google Cloud Computing ecosystem
• Hive
• Tableau/Power BI
• ML and statistics libraries (Tensorflow, NLP, Keras, numpy, Sci-Py, …)

Preferred Education

Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Economy, Data Science or relevant experience
