Dataops Engineer

You may be an experienced individual contributor that has worked as a Platform Support engineer or as a Data Engineer, utilising some of the technologies used in AstraZeneca. You will pair with other DataOps Engineers, Leads, and Architects to design, build, test and deploy DataOps solutions.

The role will involve:

• Operating and maintaining data movement and transformation technology platforms including underlying infrastructure where applicable
• Providing end user support for both incidents and service requests
• Analysing and improving the Software Development Lifecycle, standards, patterns and processes within the Data & Analytics domain
• Optimizing performance and improving efficiency through automation, monitoring and mentoring

Desirable technical skills & experience

These skills will strengthen your application but you are not expected to be an expert in all of them:

• Knowledge of standard data engineering principles and methodologies: SDLC, CI/CD, Agile, Lean
• Experience of common technologies, for example Jenkins, Apache Airflow, Nexus, Git; with development in Python, Java, Groovy, Azure Power Apps
• Experience of automated testing
• Experience of creating and administering data warehouses and data marts (MySQL, PostGreSQL, Oracle, Redshift, Snowflake)
• Experience of ETL & Cloud technologies (we currently use Talend, Informatica, Qlik Replicate, Fivetran and dbt Cloud for data movement and transformation; AWS data & analytics services such as S3, SQS, SNS, Redshift, Postgres, Aurora, MySQL, EMR; and we also use Azure, GCP, Alibaba)
• Experience of real-time system monitoring platforms (Splunk, ELK stack, CloudWatch)
• Experience of visualisation technologies such as Power BI
• Familiarity with creating bespoke graphical user interfaces and application APIs
• Familiarity with data modelling techniques (eg 3NF and star schema patterns)
