Fashion Sr. Retail Manager is dedicated to inspiring and mentoring the boutique teams to engage the consumer of today and tomorrow to the brand through fostering a culture of excellence in providing unsurpassed service to all customers (internal and external) and always ensuring high image standards in all boutiques while being committed to all retail employees personal and professional development and growth.
Empowering CHANEL Fashion Boutiques to perform optimally, the Fashion RetailSr. Manager coordinates the development of Fashion Retail activities in Mexico, creating a path for the global and regional Fashion Retail strategy that is tailored to the specificities of each Boutique´s local context.
The Fashion Retail Sr. Manager combines data analysis with feedback from sales teams to deploy a retail strategy that sets precise, targeted objectives reflecting deep local insight.
Supporting the boutiques in achieving these qualitative and quantitative objectives, the Fashion Retail Sr. Manager works closely with the Mexico fashion director (and its reports) and with the Boutique BOH and FOH teams to support the performance, optimize the efficiency of the teams and act as a key transformation agent.
Key Responsibilities
Uphold the image of the brand
  • Install an uncompromising culture among Fashion teams towards upholding the image of the brand through VM, Merchandising, Boutique Maintenance and staff grooming based on the global standards.
  • Collaborate proactively and closely with the Visual Merchandising team to ensure that show windows and boutique displays consistently reflect CHANEL image and strategy.
  • Monitor if the Boutique managers and their teams always place a priority and an urgency on ensuring that the boutique environment is in an optimum condition, including the professional image of retail team members.
  • Uplift CHANEL Boutique operational excellence to ultimate level and proactively manage and follow up boutique risks.
  • In collaboration with the division, defines each Boutique positioning and strategy (One Boutique One Story)
  • Guarantees the compliance of all Boutiques in the network to the group and local procedures.
KPI Management
  • Prepare and propose the Fashion sales targets to the Fashion Director and management (CFO & CEO) in cooperation with Merchandising team and on monthly/quarterly/yearly basis.
  • Coordinate and oversees the new Boutiques Openings on the Mexican territory. Coordinates operational needs within the design and construction process; participate to each Boutique organization definition and recruitment; on boards boutique teams; manage all operational aspects of the pre-opening preparation.
  • Drives sales on a daily/weekly/monthly basis, while analyzing variance against sales target and then take proper actions in a timely manner.
  • Ensures client service excellence, CRM data and clienteling follow up.
  • Partners with Retail Operations Team, Marketing Team, and Merchandising Team to elevate commission schemes, recommend incentive schemes and maximize services and sales performance.
Properly Manager Merchandiser & Inventory
  • Works closely with the merchandising teams to ensure that each boutique stock is relevant to the profile of the boutique´s clientele. Implements and maintains the appropriate depth and width of merchandise in each boutique.
  • Promotes and frames the buying process at boutique level.
Strategic Management of Boutiques
  • Key contact for all other fashion areas (MKT, Operations, Architecture, Merchandising, Aftersales) responsible for communicating and implementing all the strategies and policies related to other fashion areas.
  • Build a solid and reliable relationships with retail partners under the corporate image and guidelines/rules.
  • Responsible to ensure that the Boutiques are embedded with the client service values and engage each customer to a consistent client experience with full support from the division teams.
  • Declines the yearly marketing calendar by boutique, according to individual positioning and OBOS strategy of each boutique.
  • Owns the execution in the Boutiques by translating the strategy into actions, iterating, and adapting to the context to deliver on the strategy, vision, and mission.
  • Assume full spectrum of P&L responsibilities related to boutique operations expenses.
  • Support Boutique project (Open/Reno/Closing) and distribution plan. Prepared related documentation.
People Management and Talent Development
  • Boutique Teams, participates to recruitments, support and develops the retail team.
  • Fosters a culture of excellence In the Boutique teams: ensures that Boutique teams members are motivated and performing their duties in accordance with CHANEL vision and mission.
  • Infuse the CHANEL Fashion values of excellency in sales and services, promotes the relational promise, guarantees operational efficiency at Boutique level.
  • Actively promotes a collaborative culture to foster self-development, mutual assistance, and inclusivity in the retail environment.
  • Identifies and implements ways to empower and inspire the Boutique team to surpass the expectations of customers.
  • Has a good handle on retail manpower needs and works closely with Fashion and HR Directors in making hiring decisions and proactively help to find and retain talent.
  • Plan and manage talent development program with Fashion Director (Goal Setting, PA, Promotion, Rotation).
Build a Client-Centric Boutique Team
  • Drives Boutique teams to adopt a Client-Centric culture within the Boutiques to champion customer engagement to develop long lasting relationships.
  • Stresses to Boutique team the importance of obtaining a thorough and personalized understanding of every client´s needs and expectations.
  • Works proactively with the Marketing team to analyze customer trends, and purchase behavior and spares no efforts to see that client´s needs and expectations are always met and surpassed frequently.
  • Takes all client feedback and sees that all customer service complaints and/or merchandise complaints are handled expeditiously and shares feedback to retail teams.
Build a strong partnership with trade partners
  • Maintain a fruitful relationship with major landlords and department stores directions., while making them understand and respect CHANEL vision and strategy.
  • Seeks for new business opportunities within the major distribution channels and marketplaces in a close communication and collaboration with the trade partners.
  • Solidifies strong relationships by holding periodical engagement programs with trade partners.
Fostering close partnerships
  • Establish close partnerships with relevant local CHANEL Corporate Divisions (IT, Finance, ODHR, Logistics and Communications) as well as within the Fashion Division (Merchandising, Visual Merchandising, Training and Marketing) to best execute and achieve business objectives.
  • Demonstrates a collaborative and agile mindset, working closely with the retail departments of the other divisions to promote synergies and share best practices.
What are we looking for?
  • Approximately 10 years of experience in senior management positions, preferably within the luxury retail industry.
  • Previous experience managing multi-site locations, preferably of a store count of over five.
  • Proven experience in setting and executing retail strategies, with developed business acumen and a strategic and analytical point of view.
  • Experience collaborating and building relationships across cross-functional teams, developing and empowering people and being culturally sensitive.
  • Agility and the ability to be comfortable with complexity and ambiguity.
  • Curiosity in the form of personal flexibility resilience and continuous learning mindset.
  • Excellent communicator, relationship builder and a self-awareness.
  • Strong project management skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage and oversee multiple projects concurrently.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Advanced Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Must be an organized team player with solid interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated, team player, strong at collaborative working relationships.
  • Experience working on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Fluency in English & Spanish is a must have, French is a plus.
