Position Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Legal Manager to join our Mexico City branch. The Legal Manager will be responsible for providing legal guidance and management of all regulatory matters related to the organization, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and mitigating legal risks.
Key responsibilities of our Legal Manager
• Provide legal advice and counsel to senior management and department heads on a wide range of legal issues affecting the business.
• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents with local and foreign parties, to protect the interests of the company.
• Develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure legal compliance and mitigate legal risks across the organization.
• Manage and conduct litigation, disputes, and other legal matters involving the company, including sourcing external counsel when necessary.
• Work with cross-functional teams, including finance, human resources, and operations, to address legal issues and support business objectives.
• Research, analyze and stay informed about developments in the legal field, including changes to laws and regulations, and advise management on potential implications for the business.
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in law; additional certifications or specialized training in relevant areas of law preferred.
• +5 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on Mexican financial services (microfinance and fintech industry)
• Strong knowledge of laws, regulations, and legal principles relevant to the company's operations, including AML/CTF framework and financial startup environment.
• Experience managing strategies and litigation in Administrative, Civil, Commercial, Labor and Criminal Law
• Proficiency in legal research tools and software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Advanced English to effectively communicate in an international work environment.

• Excellent analytical, research, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and assess legal risks and develop practical solutions.
• Effective written and spoken communication skills, with the ability to relay complex legal concepts clearly and persuasively to non-legal stakeholders.
• Ability to lead, take responsibility and act autonomously including an ability to take difficult decisions and provide substantiated arguments.
