Descripción del trabajo

Lead Engineer - Simulation Assisted Engineering (SAE) works within the Plant Integration Engineering team by
enabling LEAN integrated plant design (IPD) using modern digital engineering tools and techniques. SAE is a
collaborative, cross-disciplinary, systems engineering approach to complex IPD, analysis, and optimization. SAE
is based on the use of a modern, physics and mathematics, digital engineering modeling and simulation software
toolkit. Focus is on technical risk, engineering labor, and schedule duration reduction during first of a kind
(FOAK) plant design.

Essential Responsibilities:
• Collaborate in cross-functional environment of; Systems, Instrumentation & Controls, and Human Factors Engineering to successful deployment, implementation, and lifecycle stewardship of the multi-organization and multi-geographic SAE environment.
• Assist in maintaining a singular master plant simulation model in SAE environment while ensuring requirements and configuration management are updated and baselined as necessary.
• Develop and edit system models in an integrated simulation environment.
• Develop and run scenarios for single systems, collections of interrelated systems, or entire power plant for: startup, shutdown, and maneuvering throughout all modes of plant operations.
• Collaborate with simulation software supplier to prepare plans, procedures, and reports then perform factory acceptance test (FAT) and site acceptance test (SAT) for simulator, Discrepancy Reports (DR), enhancement requests, technical oversight issues, and training needs.
• Collaborate with Engineering Discipline teams to prepare, review, and implement SAE modelling:

• discipline guides (DG), work instructions (WI), and design practices (DP), documentation templates.
• check lists to encourage standard work with consistency, completeness, and adequacy as appropriate throughout Conceptual, Preliminary, and Detail Design Phases.
• processes and techniques to; confirm then verify, test then validate, and integrate Discipline specific models into singular master plant simulation model
• help achieve system functional and performance goals.
• Provide technical assistance with modeling, integration to support personnel.

Basic Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear, Systems, Software, Computer Science or Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or equivalent 4 year technical degree.
• 5 years of experience in simulation using modern physics, mathematics, and software based modeling tools for design, analysis, or training involving; nuclear reactor thermal hydraulics, plant process fluidic and mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, monitoring systems.

Desired Qualifications:
• Knowledge of common computer languages (C#, C++, etc.) and software development tools (Version control, IDE’s, Debuggers, etc.).
• Experience in software development.
• Master of Science in Engineering, Electrical, Mechanical, Nuclear, Systems, Software, Computer Science or Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics.
• Senior Reactor Operator (SRO) license or certification
• Experience using modern digital engineering collaboration and design tools such as:

  • Content creation [e.g.; Confluence/Atlassian],
  • Requirements management [e.g.; DOORS-NextGen/IBM],
  • Diagram and drawing [e.g.; Visio/Microsoft, Autocad/Autodesk],
  • Design and analysis simulation [e.g.; Easy5/MSC, Simulink- ATLAB/MathWorks, Mathcad/PTC,
  • 3KeyMaster/WSC, JADE/GSE, Orchid/L3MAPPS-Harris],
  • Change, configuration, document and bill of material (BOM) management [e.g.; ENOVIA/DassaultSystemes].

• Experience developing high fidelity engineering simulator or FSS integrated with a DCS platform either via virtual controller or emulation.
• Knowledge of:

  • ANSI/ANS-3.5-2009 Nuclear Power Plant simulators for use in operator training and examination
  • REG GUIDE 1.149 Nuclear Power Plant Simulation Facilities for use in operator training, License examination and applicant experience requirements.

• Experience with plant process fluidic and mechanical piping, instrumentation diagram (P&ID) and plant electric power distribution systems (EPDS) one or single line diagram (OLD/SLD).
• Experience with software intensive digital instrumentation and control (DI&C), data acquisition system (DAS), or supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems with their instrument loop diagram, logic diagram (LD), and network diagrams.
• Experience with mid-tier PLC or top-tier DCS using modern platforms [e.g.; GE Mark* VIe/ControlST, Westinghouse CommonQ, Emerson Ovation or DeltaV, Schneider Foxboro I/A or Triconex TRICON, Siemens System7 or TelepermXP, Allen-Bradley].

The salary range for this position is $87k-110k. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location. In addition, this position is eligible for a performance bonus.

Available health and welfare benefits include healthcare, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage; savings account options (such as a Health Care Flexible Savings Account, Health Reimbursement Account, Limited Purpose Flexible Spending Account, and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account); and an employee assistance program. Additional benefits include a defined contribution 401(k) plan, employee life insurance, optional dependent life insurance, employee accidental death or dismemberment insurance coverage, salary continuance program benefits for disability, optional long-term disability, pre-tax transportation/commuter program, paid holidays, paid time off, parental leave, a layoff plan for salaried employees, tuition reimbursement program, use of Cariloop, adoption assistance, optional identity theft prevention insurance, optional personal legal assistance, and optional personal excess liability insurance.
