This full-time position reports to the Senior Engineering Manager and has been categorized as a teleworker position. Teleworkers do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from home. It is required for teleworkers to reside in the metropolitan Mexico City area, as we will require attendance for occasional in-person events. To ensure sufficient overlap with functional and cross-functional team members globally, some flexibility with this role's regular work schedule will be required. Most of our teams have overlap with early morning and/or early evening PST. Specific scheduling needs for this role will be discussed in the initial interview.

What you’ll do:

• Lead and mentor a team of Frontend Engineers, providing guidance on coding practices, design patterns, and software architecture
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and backend engineers, to deliver high-quality, scalable, and performant frontend solutions
• Architect, develop, and maintain efficient and reusable code using cutting-edge technologies such as React, Next.js, and Vercel
• Optimize web applications for Core Web Vitals and ensure a seamless user experience
• Implement and maintain REST APIs, serverless functions, and server-side rendering (SSR) to enhance application functionality
• Integrate with Content Management Systems (CMS) to manage and display dynamic content on the frontend
• Work in an Agile Scrum environment, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure project timelines and deliverables are met
• Collaborate with backend teams to design and consume RESTful APIs for seamless communication between frontend and backend systems of a headless application

What you bring to the table:

• Must be fluent in English, both written and verbal
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field strongly preferred
• Proven experience as a Frontend Engineer, with at least 3 years of team leadership or lead engineering experience
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment

Required Skills:

• Proficient in React and Next.js frameworks
• In-depth knowledge of Core Web Vitals and best practices for frontend performance optimization
• Strong understanding of agile Scrum methodologies and principles
• Hands-on experience with REST APIs and serverless functions
• Expertise in server-side rendering (SSR) techniques for enhanced application speed and SEO
• Familiarity with Content Management Systems (CMS) for dynamic content integration
• Experience building composable UIs and/or component libraries with React
• Experience with Redux or another React application state manager
• Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest and React Testing Library
• Strong understanding of unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing principles
• Experience optimizing React applications using tools like React Profiler, Chrome DevTools, and techniques like code splitting and lazy loading
• Thorough understanding of WCAG2.2 principles and guidelines

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with Dynamic Yield (DY) for personalized content delivery
• Experience with Vercel deployment and hosting
• Knowledge of AWS Lambda for serverless computing
• Familiarity with monitoring tools like New Relic for performance analysis
• Understanding of error tracking tools such as Noibu
• Exposure to GitHub Copilot for efficient code generation
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines
• Strong understanding of SEO; URL structure, structured data

Location and Travel: At Balsam Brands, we believe that time spent together, in-person, collaborating and building relationships is important.
