POSITION OVERVIEW

The Web Technology team at MSCI is playing a pivotal role in our fast-paced digital marketing transformation journey.

We are seeking a Frontend Engineer to join us on the transformation of our public and client-facing web experiences.

Your key responsibilities

• You will work as part of an agile web development team responsible for delivering scalable, performant, responsive & accessible web experiences

• You will design, code, and test following the latest industry standards and development best-practices

• You will perform code reviews, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure quality and performance

• You will collaborate and communicate daily with your peers

• You will partner closely with both technology experts (integration engineers, DevOps engineers, solution architects) and business stakeholders (Web Producers, UX designers)

DESIRED SKILLS

• Practical experience in building highly scalable, secure, performant web-based systems

• Experience working with API integrations

• Experience with agile development and project issue tracking tools (such as JIRA)

• Great attention to code quality, documentation, and ticket administration

• A fully-rounded knowledge of designing web experiences with analytics, personalization, localization, accessibility and SEO in mind

• A high sense of responsibility and ownership

• Excellent time management skills and the ability work fast and meet deadlines

• The ability to clearly communicate progress and blockers

• Experience developing websites in a headless architecture integrating with Adobe Experience Manager (Nice to have)

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required (English)

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related Engineering field

• Strong experience with JavaScript (ES6+) and TypeScript

• Very strong experience – minimum 4+ years - with React.js (v18.2) using TypeScript (functional components, rendering concept, hooks, data fetching, state management, etc.)

• Experience in building complex web applications (data access, caching, transaction handling, authentication, authorization, security aspects, etc)

• Knowledge of testing methodologies - including unit testing, integration testing, and end-to-end testing frameworks - and tools for React.js/Next.js applications

• Knowledge of SEO techniques for React.js/ Next.js applications.

• Awareness of performance optimization strategies for both client-side and server-side rendering.

• Familiarity with modern web development workflows, such as Git version control, package management (pnpm), and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.

• Ability to write valid and semantic HTML code; knowledge of CSS with CSS preprocessors like Sass or Less. Experience with utility-first CSS frameworks (like Tailwind CSS) is welcomed.

• Experience with Next.js is a great plus (understanding of Next.js core concepts like server / client components, API routes, data fetching methods, dynamic routing, caching, etc.)

• Experience with working in Cloud computing environment (preferably GCP and/or Azure) is a great advantage.

• Knowledge of monorepo is a plus.
