Schneider Electric has an opportunity for a Mechanical CAD Methods and Tools Engineer in our Apodaca, N.L. location.
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Designer for our Digital Engineering team to work in our methods and tools domain with focus in mechanical design and tolerancing. Your primary responsibility would be to oversee and manage the selection, development, implementation, optimization and maintenance of MCAD (Mechanical Computer-Aided Design) applications specifically tailored for tolerance analysis. This would involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, evaluating, and implementing suitable software solutions, and establishing best practices for utilizing these tools effectively. Additionally, you would be tasked with providing technical expertise, support, and coaching to end-users, ensuring the successful integration of tolerance analysis methods and tools within the digital engineering workflow.
- Support and maintain the methods and tools for mechanical design and tolerancing.
- Tool Evaluation and Selection: Lead the evaluation, selection, development, validation and implementation of state-of-the-art tolerance analysis and other CAD software tools, ensuring seamless integration with existing MCAD applications and digital platforms.
- Digital Thread Integration: Drive the integration of tolerance analysis data within the digital thread, facilitating the flow of accurate dimensional information across the product lifecycle and digital twins.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with engineering, design, and industrialization teams to establish best practices for tolerance analysis, influencing methods and tools decisions and documenting requirements for MCAD methods and tools.
- Model-Based Definition (MBD) Adoption: Champion the adoption of MBD methodologies by integrating tolerance analysis within the digital product definition, fostering a model-centric approach to communicate product manufacturing information.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, automation, and support.
- Enablement: Provide knowledge sharing on tolerance analysis methods and tools to empower digital engineering teams, promoting a culture of digital continuity and model-based engineering.
You will work in an environment that will require you:
- Strong Mechanical CAD Knowledge (CAD Tools like CREO, CE-Tol, others).
- Good understanding on how to perform analysis (tolerance) to ensure the adequate performance, quality, and reliability of the product.
- Stack up Analysis (1D).
- Statistical Tolerance Analysis (2D or 3D).
- Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
- ISO standard knowledge is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills: Able to understand business requirements related to tolerance analysis domain, document and explain those requirements to vendors, promote best practices for mechanical design.
- Understand Product Data Management and Product Evolution Process.
- Have some statistical background for quality analysis (Six Sigma Yellow belt/ Green belt will be a plus).
- Open to learn on IT applications configuration and application management.
- Knowledge of Model Based Design will be a plus.
- Strong coordination/orchestration skills or experience as technical leader.
- Agile mindset and Scrum practices is a plus.
- Must have 4 to 10 years of experience in design and development of electromechanical products or design Methods and Tools.
- Good level of technical proficiency in English.

- B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronic Engineering.
- Masters in Science or Master in Engineering is a plus.
- Proficient in the use of CAD software (Creo, Pro E, Solidworks or others).
- Good digital skills.
- Experience in Product Data Management systems like Windchill is a plus.
- Able to work independently and goal oriented.
