Job Description

ABOUT YOUR ROLE:

The SML Coordinator manages activities of those engaged in the movement of raw or finished materials, storage, production scheduling, and inventory control activities, including transportation, distribution, and logistics. The incumbent may maintain customer relations with regard to supply side/service activities and may be responsible for customer service processes, order fulfillment and logistics.  The SML Manager may manage one or more of the areas of focus within the Supply Chain, Materials Management, and Logistics function.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • As a team lead, oversee the clerical, support, analysis, and research tasks, and reviews reports compiled for Import & Export, Duty Exemption and Customs/ MIDA/MITI practices.
  • Responsible for Domestic & International in & out Freight and routing optimisation.  
  • Overall performance and long-term network strategy for Logistics and Supply Chain solutions.
  • Communicate, implement and interpret Supply Chain, Materials Management, and Logistics policies and procedures to effectively manage Logistics costs established within Annual Operating Plan (AOP)
  • Closely coordinated and be a partner with Production Planning & Operations to achieve production goals and identify opportunities to improve logistics processes and efficiencies.
  • Responsible for training and development of subordinate staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies.
  • Develop and implement new systems, best practices, inventory control, and other optimizations (Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures -OGSM) in order to support the growth and strategy of Identification Solutions.
  • Interface with Commercial, Program Deployment, Customer Service, Finance, and Operations to formulate and drive supply planning strategies including development of strategic inventory programs.
  • Achieve maximum levels of productivity, ensuring that the business benefits from the lowest possible cost and best value.
  • Track quality, quantity, stock levels, delivery times, transportation costs and efficiency - Maintain metrics and analyze data to assess performance and implement improvements
  • Perform various activities to backup and maintain the flow of work in the department.  Ensure staff is focused on process improvement.
  • Mentor and provide development opportunities for staff, retain and identify development plans for high potential talent
  • Implement and integrate Company EHS programs and develop facility specific procedures that ensure compliance with regulatory and Company policies.
  • Actively engage in translating best practices in the areas of experimental and organizational design and development, cost modeling and developing enhanced internal and external relationships to support local and international businesses.
  • Responsible for delivery of short-term and-long term results in order to develop and maintain the organization’s credibility with the business and creating opportunities for the function to add greater value to the business.
  • Use business trends and customer needs to create actionable goals that create competitive advantage.
  • Accountable for departmental budget and project deliverables.  Secure and allocate appropriate resources and manage projects to meet Departmental goals and achieve financial objectives.  
  • Lead cross-functional team on projects.  Communicate and work with all levels of the organization.  Manage a large multi-function program or a set of projects. Interact with colleagues, suppliers and customers.  
  • Strong awareness of competition and impact of strategies and tactics in the marketplace.
  • Review effectiveness of operating procedures, maintenance, space utilization, and protection of equipment to ensure optimal performance.  

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or Materials Management/Logistics, Marketing/business qualification would be highly desirable Bachelor’s Degree in or related field required
  • 5 years of experience in work experience in Logistics, with 3+ year’s supervisory or lead experience preferred.
  • Experience in Import & Export/ Customs/MITI / MIDA / ATS / Trade Incentives Schemes is required.
  • Experience in Incoterm and FTA is preferred.
  • Experience in Domestic & International Freight in/out is required.
  • Preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Team Management experience is required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain Software Solutions, ERP system experience is preferred (e.g. Oracle, SAP, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills are essential to lead and collaborate across a diverse and complex organization.
  • Demonstrated understanding of financial systems and the key drivers within the manufacturing environment
