Materials Lab Engineer

What You Will Do

• Defining, testing, and troubleshooting material and process-related properties
• Complete test requests using the available laboratory test equipment, additional company labs, or outside labs when test equipment is not available.
• Identify and analyze material cost saving opportunities in current or pending products.
• Participate in component problem analysis and resolution
• Technical writing of work instructions and test reports
• Work with other Materials Engineering Laboratory staff to ensure that the laboratory equipment is kept in good
• Working order and calibrated
• Keep the Materials laboratory organized and maintain good housekeeping standards
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
• Participates and provides support related with quality and EHSS systems management, objectives, targets and programs.

What You Need

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, technical equivalent, or work
• Experience is required
• Minimum 5+ years relevant work experience
• A thorough understanding of best practice laboratory procedures and the use of laboratory equipment such as
• FTIR, DSC, DMA, mechanical test equipment, goniometer, couloscope, and viscometers is a plus, not all required
• A good understanding of organic and inorganic materials including adhesives, metal coatings, polymers, plastic
• Injection molding, adhesion to plastic substrates and anodizing knowledge is a plus but not required
• Knowledge of proper handling of chemicals and materials is required
• Ability to organize, analyze and concisely report technical data is required
• Knowledge of statistical data analysis is required
• Good working understanding of Minitab is helpful
