Job Purpose and Impact
The Package Engineer will use broad and in depth engineering knowledge and methods to design and develop packaging processes and equipment.
In this position, you will work on complex projects to develop and test a wide variety of containers used for the protection, display and handling of products across multiple product categories and plants.
You will determine packaging specifications according to the nature of the product, cost limitations, legal requirements and the type of protection required, considering need for resistance to such external variables as moisture, corrosive chemicals, temperature variations, light, heat, rough handling and tampering. #LI-TH1
Key Accountabilities
- Conduct experiments on different types of materials in a specialized laboratory setting including those based on analysis of user information needs.
- Coordinate complex projects involving the design and implementation for the packaging of new or existing products across multiple product categories and production facilities.
- Plan and conduct packaging laboratory studies to support all packaging materials and production design changes.
- Prepare cost estimates and deliver packaging laboratory services for development projects, package qualification and solving efforts.
- Partner collaboratively with vendors, business leaders, marketing, product development and production to strategize and ideate on new solutions and technologies to address packaging needs.
- Build, modify and test product materials based on durability and cost effectiveness and advise customers on efficient packing procedures.
- Provides training, coaching, and mentoring to new team members as well as the operations team.
- SAP Champion User to support all BOMs, New Materials, Items and NPSS Requests
- Governance of processes and procedures of R&D.
- Independently handle complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Working knowledge of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques
- Proven experience in related work

PREFERRED QUAFIFICATION
- Assist in coordinating projects involving the design and implementation for the packaging of new or existing products.
- Helps in preparing documents including cost estimates and works with other packaging team members to deliver packaging laboratory services for development projects, package qualification, and solving efforts.
