Descripción del trabajo

In the Propulsion Modeling & Simulation Engineer role, you will be an integral part of the Aerothermal systems design team supporting both GE's next generation of military engine architectures and currently fielded products. This role focuses on supporting the aerothermal component and system modeling necessary to support Preliminary Design, Steady-State Performance, Transient Analysis, Operability, Controls, and other disciplines.

Roles and Responsibilities

In the role of Propulsion Modeling & Simulation Engineer, you will develop and maintain cycle performance models.

Additionally your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing physics-based aerothermal system models that behave reasonably throughout the operational envelope.

  • Resolving model issues through understanding both the physical system, the modeling that represents it, as well as the numerical iteration methods used to solve the system.

  • Packaging models for delivery to customers and integration into rigs or simulators.

  • Creating, developing, and integrating aerothermal models of individual components, physical processes, and subsystem models, that constitute an overall system model.

  • Leading design reviews of modeling approach, functionality, and validity.

  • Executing with limited guidance the analysis / evaluation of assigned projects that meet business standards, practices and procedures and the product / program requirements.

  • Recommending approaches to meet the technical and program requirements.

  • Assuring proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks consistent with engineering policies and procedures.

  • Monitoring and communicating project status, business issues and significant developments.

  • Participating as a presenter or reviewer in technical and program reviews.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited University or College.

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a gas turbine engineering position.

  • Must be a US citizen.

  • Ability to obtain a secret clearance.

Desired Characteristics

  • Excited about propulsion and the aero / thermodynamic disciplines.

  • Passionate about giving & receiving mentorship.

  • Able to work both in a team and individually.

  • Master’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited college or university.

  • 5-8 years of experience in an aerospace or mechanical engineering position.

  • Proficiency with the Numerical Propulsion System Simulation (NPSS) software.

  • Experience with gas turbine engine cycle performance, or component aero design.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Ability to guide and influence others.

  • Demonstrated process orientation in approach to work.

  • Problem analysis and resolution skills.

  • Current Secret US security clearance.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
