We’re seeking a Senior Corporate Accountant to join our team.

Proper is a San Francisco-based tech startup. This position would be based in LATAM.
Key Responsibilities- General Ledger Management:
Maintain the general ledger system and ensure the accuracy of all financial transactions
Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies
Reconcile and analyze balance sheet accounts regularly
Oversee review of the company billing process
- Financial Reporting and Close Process:
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Support the Director of Corporate Accounting in preparing financial reports and presentations for senior management
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and company guidelines
Support in the preparation of board materials and other presentations for senior management
Play a key role in the month-end and year-end closing processes, including accruals and adjustments
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline closing procedures and meet reporting deadlines
- Budgeting and Forecasting:
Assist in the budgeting and forecasting processes, working with other departments to gather data and provide analysis
Support the timely recording of actual results with the Finance Department as part of the monthly reporting and Budget vs Actual process
Monitor actual financial performance against budget and forecast, identifying and communicating variances
- Audit Support, Compliance, and Regulation:
Support external auditors during the annual audit/review, providing requested documentation and explanations
Maintain internal controls and documentation to ensure a successful audit process
Support the development and implementation of internal controls within the department as well as cross-functionally
Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in tax filings
- Process Improvement:
Continuously identify opportunities for process improvement and automation, implementing solutions to increase efficiency and accuracy
Collaborate with colleagues to enhance financial procedures and controls
Stay up-to-date with accounting standards, regulations, and industry best practices
- Team Collaboration and Management Reporting:
Work closely with the Director of Corporate Accounting and other team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives
Assist in mentoring and training junior team members as part of the development process
Ensure data for management dashboards is entered correctly and accurately will be a key input for executive management decision-making
Required Skills- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Minimum of 4-6 years of relevant experience in corporate accounting or a similar role
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Proficiency in using QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with financial statement preparation and analysis
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team
- Advanced English Level (C1 to C2)
- Progress toward or completion of a professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA or equivalent)
- Proficiency with an ERP other than QuickBooks
- Experience with managing teams or direct reports in a remote environment (1-3 direct reports)
- Ability to present data to Senior Management of the company and respond to questions in order to enhance company decision making process
- Bachelor’s degree required (accounting or finance preferred)
- 4-6 years of relevant experience in corporate accounting or a similar role
