JOB SUMMARY*

The holder of this position is responsible for the development and improvement of one or more

operations or areas, that impact one or more of the performance measures of the company. The

Business Excellence Engineer Staff must have a clear understanding of the strategies of the plant

and must be capable of translating these strategies into measurable goals. The responsibilities

will include establishing the bases or current condition, communicate / lead improvement projects

from establish the strategic plant up to the implementation, systematization of the improvement of

the performance measure and compare the result with the world-class standards. For that, the

title holder must become an expert in the use of JJPS tools, six sigma, lean manufacturing

system, must possess knowledge about product costs, must have experience in manufacturing

and the vision of the business .

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES*

Under general direction and in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local

laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:

  • Is responsible for the analysis and development of a strategic plan for the area or process in

which he/she is involved, including the chain supply, and for establish short term and long-term

goals.

  • Is responsible of ensuring that the goals of his/her projects are aligned with the strategic plan of

the plant.

  • Is responsible of ensuring that the plans of the projects for the different areas / manufacturing.

  • Is responsible for the understanding of the Quality procedures, safety, environment, and

ergonomics aspects that are necessary to comply with or implement during the project (GMPs,

ISO, FDA, Internal Policies, etc.).

  • Responsible for ensuring the compliance, personal and of the company, with all the regulations,

policies and procedures though its processes, including Health, Safety, Environment and

Ergonomics.

  • Maintains optimal communication with the other departments associated to obtain the biggest

advantage of the improvements in the processes.

  • Communicates goals and objectives between departments to ensure that the business is kept

focused towards the final strategy.

  • Represents operations in the allocated projects in other areas or plants.
  • Provide support to the deployment of the JJPS, Six Sigma, PE and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Provide support to PE, certifications and recertification and savings required.
  • Supervision responsibilities: Can supervise, coordinate, and technically check the work of the

engineering technicians of Operational Excellence, estimates human resources needs,

programs, and allocates work to comply with the delivery dates. As a Process Excellence

Engineer Staff, he/she can be supported by other engineers, technicians.

Is responsible for the identification analysis and improvement plans thorough lean principle.

Identify and manage improvement cost opportunities.

  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management

level.

  • Responsible for ensuring subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety

and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good

condition.

  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and

Company regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Performs other duties assigned as needed.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION*

  • Completed bachelor’s in engineering, any specialization.
  • Recommendable, master’s in science.
  • Generally, Requires 6-8 years’ work experience in supervision, administration, and project

direction.

  • Experience in medical products, and technical studies, preferably.
  • Process Excellence: (SPC and DMAIC), knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean manufacturing, strategies

development, Black Belt certification (can be candidate to be certified as Master Black Belt).

  • Knowledge of materials systems, inventories, and supply chain.
  • Experience in different areas of the plant.
  • Ability to establish PE (Six Sigma and lean manufacturing) as part of the culture in the

organization.

  • Experience in Change management.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES and

AFFILIATIONS*

  • Strong knowledge of computer packages such as Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. AutoCAD

and other similar software.

  • Must possess demonstrated analytical capacity.
  • Knowledge in Finances
  • Bilingual English – Spanish
  • Good interpersonal relations and ease of written and oral communication.
  • Demonstrate capacity to direct other persons.
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment
