The LCCI (Lilly Capability Center India), BI&A (Business Insights & Analytics) team was started in 2017 with the objective of supporting business decisions for functions in the US and ex-US affiliates. This team is part of the LCCI - Commercial Services organization and works very closely with business analytics team based in Indianapolis (HQ). The team currently comprises of more than 100 staff members, with varied backgrounds and skills across data management, analytics and data sciences, business, and operations etc.
To better meet the evolving analytics needs, the LCCI BI&A team is ramping up the data sciences pillar of BI&A Medical Affairs team. The Medical AffairsData Scientist is responsible for technical contributions and consulting in the fields of data science, statistics, machine learning, and causal inference for Lilly USA Medical Affairs.
The Data Scientist will be part of a growing and dynamic team of analytics professionals whose main goal is to help our business partners achieve their goals through data analytics enablement. The position will leverage their deep understanding of various LillyUSA & Medical Affairs specific data sources in order to lead execution of advanced analytics and to communicate key outputs. The position will be responsible for partnering and collaborating across geographies and functional partners. This analytics professional will be responsible for ensuring business decisions are backed by data driven insights and recommendations from analytics. We are looking for a Data Scientist who can be a key contributor to DS-projects, provide statistical analysis with the objective of driving KPIs for the business.
Core Responsibilities:
· Develop deep understanding of Medical Affairs strategy, business goals, challenges and critical objectives (across GMAO & BU Medical Affairs) to ensure analytics deliverables are aligned to the broader strategy.
· Use advanced analytics techniques and build models to answer business questions at the heart of improving patient outcomes.
· Dive deep into a variety of data sources to find patterns, explain trends and tie them to business outcomes.
· Build out analytics and modelling frameworks to answer a variety of Medical Affairs questions. Topics of specific interest include causal inference, impact measurement and design of experiments.
· Promote and plan designed variance (prospective designed experiments, A/B tests, natural or business case variance) to test engagement impact and outcomes.
· Effectively answer data science questions, build ML pipelines, and integrate results that align to improving patient outcomes.
· Stay current with latest statistics AI/ML methodologies for use in Medical Affairs analytics.
· Effectively work and communicate with global teams and stakeholders to present the final outcomes and provide recommendations as needed.
· Collaborate with cross functional teams and external consultants to help review or translate this work to other team members.
Experience Required
- 3+ years in general analytics (data engineering, data visualization, data mining and uncertainty quantification) and 2+ years in advanced hands-on in-depth ML modeling and statistical analysis.
- Extensive experience working on the areas of Causal analysis, AI/ML, understanding in statistics
- Candidates with additional experience in natural language processing and other approaches to structured/unstructured data, advanced mathematical and predictive modelling, visual analytics etc. would be preferred
- Significant coding experience in R and/or Python
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to be able to structure and solve open ended business problems (pharma experience is highly preferred)
- Familiarity with cloud technology and AWS services for analytics (preferred)
- Familiarity with closed and/or open claims data (preferred)
Education
- Master’s/ Ph.D. degree in technology, statistics/mathematics, econometrics, operations research, or computer science
